United States of AmericaDinner was not great. I do not recommend it. There are several dinner locations within walking distance, no need to do dinner at the hotel.
The pools were lovely, the sauna and steam room great! The breakfast was good. The hotel is like a mini-oasis!! It is within walking distance of the black sand / pebble beach. It is close to car / scooter rental - which is very convenient. Bus stop is nearby. Supermarket nearby. Really great location! And a lovely hotel!

Netherlands"Sea salt pool" was advertised but we were not able to find such. Drinks and even water is not included into the price for a dinner. As our departure was very early in the morning - we asked for a lunchbox instead of a breakfast. It was not so great to be honest. It is not to complain - but to meet the expectations it is good to know that this hotel is very popular by older audience.
Good breakfast and dinner. Rooms were better than we expected with photos. Free parking. Very nice view from side sea type of rooms - straight to sunset side, so it doesn't make sense to pay extra for upgrade.

HungaryCould have been a little more up-to-date. Cleaning was sometimes good, sometimes not even the trash was taken. Sometimes we got extra water, sometimes we did not. Wellness is very poor. They say pools are heated, but we couldn't feel it. It was so cold, the kids couldn't use it at all.
The garden, the view from the hotel and the location are stunning. Design is a bit old-fashioned but still alright. Very popular among older people.

PortugalThe coffee quality unfortunately was the worst ever! Only at the pool bar you could get a good coffee … and pay for it of course! Food quality at dinners was poor, the same for Sylvester dinner, although good wine was served! Location of the hotel is far out from Funchal, nothing nice to discover in direct walking distance! In pool and spa areas, many places of water infiltration, damaged walls and mold. The sauna was cold, as well as the jacuzzi!
Breakfast was OK for this kind of big hotel, but not overwhelming !

Food overall was ok, although for 5 start hotel I expected higher level and more selection of food. Location of hotel, room size and view is very good, this is the only 5 stars in this hotel. Pillows - 1 star, mattress 3 stars. Spa - 4 starts.

All very good but my only comment would be the food. There was nothing wrong with any of it but nothing was exceptional. I don't think this is something particular to this hotel, I've stayed on the island many times in various places and it is always the same. Not sure if it's an import issue or we've just been unlucky. The staff were exceptional.

IsraelDidn't appreciate the 10% service change automatically attached to all drink prices. OK if it really goes to the staff, but it is probably going to management. Location was beautiful, but may be difficult without a car.
Breakfast was very good; enjoyed the outdoor seating. Side Sea View room had an excellent view of the sunset. Room was very clean and quiet. Plenty of lounge chairs by pool. Wifi worked. Free parking.
