Owner only takes cash. We only stayed one night, but for multiple nights that might be more difficult.

The owner was amazingly nice and breakfast was an absolute feast! More than a simple room, we had a separate cottage including a full kitchen. Easy walk into town where there was a great little brewery.

If anything, it's a little far into town. It would have been a nice walk though, if not for the rain. We had to drive into town and it's hard to find parking there. But this has nothing to do with Vila Maria.

The owner! She was fabulous. Just delightful. She obviously loves what she does. Very helpful and accommodating. She made an amazing breakfast with endless variety, much of it homemade. Ample, easy on site parking. I can't recommend this place more. Castelo de Vide is a wonderful town, too.

I arrived during a torrential rain storm. I received a warm and helpful welcome. This is not a hotel but a well appointed, cosy home. I very much enjoyed my stay and, should I visit the area again, this would be my first consideration for accommodation. The breakfast table was groaning under the weight of a generous selection of savoury and sweet (often homemade) selections. You would need to travel a great distance and need much luck to find a breakfast comparable with this.

Nothing! Everything was great

Maria was an incredibly kind and thoughtful host; we arrived early before our room was ready and she set us up on the terrace with cookies and coffee. The breakfast was amazing and we were really happy with the independent apartment; clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The grounds of the property are super special and lovely, like a small terraced park! It's also entirely fenced which was great for letting our dog sniff around. We loved our stay!

Only negative with apartment there was no lounge area to sit comfortably in. I

Breakfast was exceptional, the amount of food available and the choice of jams available. Excellent position of property with easy walking distance to town. Owner Maria was super friendly and could not do enough for you. Added little extras in apartment were a real bonus such as bottles of water, juice, sweets, coffee capsules etc. Excellent wifi.

Literally everything. Avó Luísa (grandma Luísa) is an absolute sweetheart and takes care of you from the moment you get to her place. My wife and I, along with our wiener dog spent 3 amazing days there. From cleanliness, to location, to the great room/bed, the shower and the amazing breakfast. She even washed and folded my clothes. Couldn't recommend more.

Louise put out an amazing spread of homemade jams, breads and cakes with cheese, meat, cereal, yogurt and also offered eggs if we'd want. Juice and coffee. Just lovely.

Lovely host was there to greet us upon arrival. Beautifully furnished house and guest room. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the garden. Everything was very clean. Delicious breakfast the next morning with everything imaginable including lots of cakes. Secure parking for our car.

Everything!! The hostess was absolutely amazing and did for us a lot more than she had to! The room was nice and spacious and breakfast was so rich, the best we had in two weeks in Portugal.

The accommodation was further out of town than the map scale suggested and the locator sent us around the back of the property where there was no access.

The host was very welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast included many home made preserves and cakes !

We just had one night here but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Louisa is SO wonderful - what a delightful woman! Hers was the best breakfast of our 2 weeks in Portugal. Exceptional!

Nice breakfast round a communal table or out on the terrace with lots of homemade cakes and jams plus meats, cheese and eggs freshly cooked. Lovely terrace to sit out on looking over the sports centre and hillsides. Aircon worked well and a very warm welcome from Luisa -nothing was too much trouble. Only 5/10 mins walk into the centre of Castelo with some good restaurants. Excellent municipal swimming pools opposite- outside only open from June - swimming caps obligatory for all. Definitely drive up to Marvao for a day visit.

Everything!!! The house was charming and the hostess was friendly and welcoming. The food served for breakfast was delicious and authentic. Many of the items were from her garden.

Eveyrthing was so nice! Accommodation, and especially the opportunity to meet senhora Luisa were extraordinary! The house is just fabulous, situated very close to the city centre with a beatiful garden and "like-home" feeling.
