No lift, and at least two floors of stairs to get to the rooms from street level; slightly rundown building, and some of the furniture looked a little tired as well; guests without even a minimal knowledge of Russian language and script are likely to experience frustration during their stay and while interacting with staff

Attractive period building from the 1930's, right in the centre of town, close to Lenin's statue and to the very nice riverside promenade; quite reasonably priced accommodation, and a good opportunity to see from the inside how a hotel from the Soviet times worked (including a concierge desk at the floor to hand you the room key after you have settled the bill at the entrance level cashier's office); nice breakfast room with good quality breakfast; good Russian/Azeri/Uzberk restaurant in the same building (under separate management, and one of the very few places in town to be open until late); quite convenient in terms of proximity to bus stops and to many shops

Rather soviet-style, with key lady in the hall, rather backward style paperwork on check in, rooms over furnished with little space left to move around, esp in bathroom. Can't look too closely at the trim without feeling a bit ill. Far from superb craftsmanship. But everything is clean and safe. Internet not reliable.

Clean, all the basics needed. Very filling breakfast.

The facility is awful. Looks like an old soviet hotel without any intent to renovate. You need to go to 3rd floor for the reception, and then struggle to find your room, which can face the street and a lot of noise (it's one of main streets of the city). Also the parking is for additional fee of 300 r. (they said that "free" parking that booking.com offers is the street around the hotel) and you need to go around the whole block to get there (unless nice waitress will open the door for you).

The location is fantastic. It is actually the very center of Tver. You can go to Trekhsvyatskaya street and enjoy the walking lane and some nice cafes, including 24-hour chicken fast-food. You can also walk to Volga river and enjoy a number of other nice places.
