The spa. It’s such a shame because not only was it extraordinarily expensive, and without any discount for paying guests vs the public, the guy behind the desk was rather rude and dismissive. The sauna wasn’t hot on either day we paid to go. And all in all just felt very lack lustre

Everything. The room was fantastic, by far and away the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel staff were fantastic. And the hotel restaurants were beyond compare

The reception staff were not warm and welcoming and I was left with the feeling that they were too tired of guests due to the size of the hotel.

I had just arrived in Gothenburg and this was going to be a short stop on my journey towards the Artic Circle and a bucket list view of the Northern Lights in Norway. With Northern Europe seeing some of the lowest recorded temperatures, I arrived to a snow covered Gothenburg via the Central Rail Station and was over the moon to find that the Clarion was literally across the road from the station. With only one night at this hotel it was a strategic triumph that everything from restaurants to the main shopping areas were all within a 10-20 minute walking distance. The views from my canal and station facing 4th floor room were fantastic, whilst I had minimal interaction with the staff they were definitely not warm and welcoming on check-in and gave the vibe of a large corporate hotel and not in a good way. I was too busy to worry about minor details such as this and overall enjoyed my short stay as part of my epic Scandinavian winter tour, this is a ideal short stop hotel. Although Gothenburg is a beautiful city and if I were to visit again in the summer I would probably stay somewhere smaller and more welcoming with the personal touch which is hard to achieve in such a large hotel. The hotel is in a beautifully renovated old Post Office Building and the rooms retain a wealth of original features which have been tastefully included into the room designs. I fully enjoyed my stay here as much for the location and convenience to explore this fantastic city along with the comfort of the rooms which ensured I was fresh in the morning for the next leg of my journey.

Leave space for hotel guests that arrive in restaurant

Bar had Party on arrival, checkin gave us reasonable sized room on 6th floor, told us two restaurants would have a “few tables left” for dinner > neither restaurant gave us a seat despite visibly there being space. Had to order from Deliveroo ..

We booked on the spot, and it was cheaper to do so through Booking.com app than at the desk. The room was lovely, but very small and unfortunately there was no room service.

Beautiful property, and the breakfast was included and NEXT LEVEL amazing. Swedes put on such a great spread :) The room was very modern, and comfortable. We slept on a cloud!

Breakfast was excellent, many tasteful options. Room was also great, very clean with a nice design and Rituals shower products. Location is perfect since you have the tram and the train station right in front of the hotel.

It's a giant hotel, so there's always lots of people around. Also, the pool is access by payment only.

Unfortunately there were a few events that let the hotel down. The rooms are not sound proof and there was a lot of noise on the evening I stayed. My pillow was also slightly dirty and the bath plug did not work. I did report it to the front desk and they were extremely gracious and offered me a complimentary breakfast voucher. I really appreciate that!

The facilities are good and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
