Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOn departure the elevators were slow while people loaded up their luggage. Wish elevators would have been bigger.
Breakfast was excellent and the location is perfect for hopping on a cruise ship! The hospitality was the best and they allowed us to leave our luggage waiting to get on the ship and when we got off the ship and stopped by to have lunch! Concierge and reception were terrific! So appreciated!

United States of AmericaThe hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of Phillipsburg on Front Street, and the beach is immediately in the back of the hotel. The staff was professional, friendly, and responsive. During our stay, we asked for additional blankets, which were brought up to our room while we were on the beach. We also arranged to rent a car for the day, and the hotel staff made all of the arrangements; the car was delivered to the hotel and then picked up from the hotel once we were done. The beach staff are very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed having snacks and drinks beachside. The hotel restaurant is very good. We included breakfast with our stay, and I highly recommend doing that, as we looked forward to the breakfast each day. We also had lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant, and they were excellent. During our stay, we ate out at various restaurants in and around Phillipsburg, and the hotel restaurant was the best quality.

United States of AmericaWe were in St Maarten to begin a cruise. The location of the hotel ended up being great for a bit of shopping and people watching. We arrived on Good Friday to discover everything closed for the holiday, but, the next morning, everything was bustling! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book there again next year when we cruise again! Hotel restaurant was very good for dinner. Had breakfast the next morning at the French Market which is a short walk from the hotel. Great croissants!

United States of AmericaI have no complaints. If you are looking for nightlife, you will probably be happier in a big resort.
This hotel is located right in the middle of the shopping area of Philipsburg just across the boardwalk from a beautiful beach on a bay with very calm turquoise water. The area is lively during the day but very quiet at night after the cruise ships leave. The downside of that is many restaurants are closed for dinner. The rooms are large and comfortable with spacious balconies. The restaurant has very good food. I really commend the staff who are excellent in every area, friendly and efficient. This is a great day for a relaxing vacation.

United States of AmericaSome loud music playing at night on street side. Everything closes up at night.
The location is the best, on the beach, great views and in the middle of shopping district. You can walk to the cruise port.

United States of AmericaBreakfast was very good and included in price and consisted of good variety of menu options. Staff was also very pleasant and helpful. Location was perfect for access to cruise port. Easy access to beach. Ate dinner three nights in hotel dining room and all three were excellent. No need to go anyplace else.

CanadaOur dinner reservation, made four months prior, and confirmed by the property via email the week before we left for our holiday, got "lost." Despite repeated requests upon our arrival at the hotel, staff refused to confirm the reservation, until I finally indicated my displeasure to the manager, about an hour before dinner. In the end, we did enjoy a wonderful dinner, at the table of our choice.
It was wonderful to be served a hot breakfast, instead of the usual buffet. The food was very good, and the servers friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable.

United States of AmericaWhen the cruise ships leave for the day, most everything nearby closes up so there are limited choices for dinner. If you are more into a nightlife, stay in much pricier Simpson Bay.
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Everyone who works there was friendly and helpful. When we asked for an extra blanket, they brought one that had been heated up in the dryer! The $2 public bus is one street over and we took it to Marigo and Maho Beach. Good food in the restaurant.

AustraliaBe mindful that food can take some time to be prepared - if you have a ferry allow plenty of time for breakfast.
Location and room were excellent. View of Philipsburg was stunning - fantastic to have a balcony to read/relax on. Clean and good shower facilities which is handy with the beach and beach chairs. Nice cocktails.

United States of AmericaNothing, no problems at all. If we again visit Sint Maarten we'll stay at the Holland House.
This was our second stay at the Holland House. For us it's a little expensive but worth it in every way: clean, comfortable, excellent restaurant and bar, good location.

CanadaRooms could use some upgrading. Coffee maker so high up in cupboard, couldn’t see properly to operate. Had to use in the bathroom. In hindsight, it should have been set up by the phone

CanadaDefinitely the place to stay if staying in Philpsburg, great location, great atmosphere, great staff. Also would highly recommend getting one of the ocean view rooms if available. The restaurant is also great, probably the best food in Philipsburg as well. Would definitely stay here again if visiting this part of the island.
