To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

PortugalLocation is not amazing (no restaurants or services really nearby) but that is easily solved with a scooter - that can be rented in the hotel.
The staff is incredible, they did everything we could ask for - picked us up at the bus station late in the night and also dropped us there when we needed, helped us book the bus tickets and gave us many city tips. Food there was great, both breakfast and lunch! The room is very comfortable even though the bathroom is small.

Jay and the staff were amazing. Super nice and helpful. We got all the info we needed about Sukhothai old city and transportation options ; they also booked a bus for us to leave Sukhothai and even dropped us to the station. The room was basic, with a fridge and bed very comfortable. The place is peaceful and the location was great. 20mns walking distance from town and less than 10 by bike (which are provided freely).

Very lovely and helpful staff. Our first bungalow had a spider in it (I know, I know) and we were directly offered to change bungalows. They answered any question we had and gave us recommendations regarding the temples, motorbike hire etc. (they even gave us a map!) Lastly, they took us to the bus station on a complimentary motorbike ride with our backpacks which was an experiment! Other than that, the bedroom was very clean and comfy, despite the equipment being very old school, we loved our stay!
