Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The shower water temperature fluctuates from boiling hot to freezing cold on a cycle no matter what temperature you set the tap, I believe it might be a plumbing or electrical issue, was still usable but you’d have to jump out every 2 minutes or so to wait for the temperature to go back in.
Amazing host who was extremely helpful with recommendations and helped us check in smoothly. The location and cleanliness of the property is excellent and is a great option for budget travellers who still want to remain private but central to key locations. Double paned windows were a plus and cut out allot of the outside noise.

It’s impossible to find on your own! Go to the location on Google Maps and then look for an unmarked door hidden next to a restaurant. We asked the locals for help after walking up and down, and even they didn’t know about it!
Lovely modern room with a lot packed in to a small space. The host was friendly and accommodating and left a great list of recommendations. The location is so central, a quick walk to the Bue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar and the river, with lots of nice restaurants and cafes around

Location was perfect, walking distance from the Hagia Sofia and lots of other main atractions. In the street there are few shops, caffes, restaurants, actually everything you need. The neighborhood seems safe. Our studio was full equipped, hosts were very helpful and kind, cleaning lady does the great job.

bathroom was tiny so difficult to manoeuvre. curtains let light through. room is small so wouldn’t recommend for a long term stay
small room but had everything you could need. great location in walking distance to all sights in sultanahmet area. staff were really friendly and welcoming. restaurant downstairs was one of the best we went to in Turkey - they offer a discount if you tell them you’re staying here

For this price range everything was excellent
Location was very nice, everything was near and host had a good short-book info about everything. We had a very beautiful view from the room looking over sea and mosque. Staff is very polite, friendly and attentive!

The room is an efficient use of space, which I found cozy and was perfect for me, but it might be a surprise for a couple or people used to a more spacious hotel room.
This hotel is conveniently located in a historic district of Istanbul, a very quick walk to the most popular sights of the city. The host was extremely helpful and informative, providing a lot of advice regarding transportation and even a booklet in the room detailing tourist sights, recommended restaurants, and local dishes; it was the first time I received a welcome orientation meeting when checking in to a hotel! (It might sound strange, but it was very helpful and welcoming—I felt calmed and reassured by it after a somewhat difficult time arriving at the airport). One of the best restaurants I tried in Istanbul is actually on the first floor of this building, and there is a handy little mini-mart next to it (good for buying drinks and snacks for the room). I especially liked all the little extras, like nice soaps and shampoos in the bathroom, a variety of teas and coffees, and stylish dishes for preparing and serving food.

The bathroom was a bit small even for me (I’m only 1.50 m) and smells a little bit musty.
I liked the room, it feel cozy and had everything you need (kitchen, bed, couch, closet etc.) Also the distance to all the tourist attractions where near this place. The hosts where very helpfully and friendly!
