The room was quite old, and fairly spartan in facilities. The elevator is certainly old fashioned, small and almost clinical in appearance, and given it is the only thing that seems to connect floors 1 2 and 3 to floors 4 and 5 (we couldn't find stairs between 3 and 4), it was a bottleneck sometimes. I was also disappointed there was no fan or air conditioner as the room got quite hot during the day, so we ended up just leaving when it was hot out. If you really had to stay in during the day, I imagine that could be a bigger issue. During our stay, they also did some roof construction right outside our room that was very loud and a bit annoying. They warned us when we checked in, but at that point we couldn't really adjust or do anything about it.

The location was perfect, easy walking to shops and restaurants and ample parking with two lots for the two halves of the hotel. The place was clean, comfortable, and while we didn't use the pool it was the cleanest looking pool I've seen in a hotel. I also appreciated the fireplace and balcony in our room, which was perfect for eating breakfast and looking out at the ocean.

It was a bit hard to find the office when we checked in, since the facility has staircases that are non-contiguous and no signage. Fortunately, a maid got me going in the right direction.

Our room had a fireplace which came in handy during some cold late-March days. Parking was plentiful, and the breakfast was decent.

Breakfast buffet was in a dedicated space which could easily have been made more attractive. The breakfast selection was OK but only offered paper plates and plastic cutlery … (impossible to spread butter or cut bacon with!!) : sadly it all felt a little ‘temporary’ and rushed. I think without too much effort this could really be improved

This is a very nice well established Inn in Carmel right in the hub of things, all restaurants, galleries and shops are minutes away. The rooms are on multiple levels and you can, from the top two floors, see the sea! Our room was large had a wrap around veranda with 2 sun beds and an outside dining table which was a nice touch for a sunny Californian day! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was excellent and the bathroom large with lots of hot water. Private on site parking helps when travelling through. The noise level between rooms was minimal (which is something you often have to consider with older Inns) : all in all a very well managed property. The price to quality ratio very good.

I could hear the room next to me, but thankfully they also went to bed in the 10:00 hour!

My fireplace queen was bigger than I expected, and easy to keep toasty on a cold night between the fireplace and working thermostat. Very comfy mattress, clean bedding, and fancy feeling toiletries. Nice breakfast! The location is truly diagonal from the downtown area and cannot be beat at this rate!

Spacious clean room in an excellent location. My daughter and I walked everywhere. Lots of parking. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast included eggs and bacon, with all the usual.

Nicely updated. Nice little peak of Point Lobos from Balcony. Very comfortable. Terrific and accommodating staff. Close to all shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this Inn.

The facility felt a little old but that was part of its charm. Some of the outlets in my room didn’t work so charging my phone was a little inconvenient. No microwave which would have been handy.

Location was amazing. Staff were very friendly. Neighborhood felt comfortable and safe. I felt comfortable walking around and exploring the shops and surrounding area on foot (as a solo female traveler). Check in and check out process was smooth. For Carmel area, for the price, it was a very good stay.

Carmel is certainly a charming town. Carmel Bay View Inn isn’t very charming. Flooring and colors throughout the facility are ok, but sterile feeling. The room furnishings are ok, but could use some refurbishment. Breakfast is included, and for the price of the hotel, it’s fine enough, but it’s far from gourmet. For the price and location, though, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a reasonably priced place in town.

Our particular room had water pipe noise in the morning. Not great, as we were trying to sleep in, but not terrible.

The staff was very accommodating. It was very clean, parking was convenient, and just on the edge of downtown which was perfect. Breakfast was simple continental, but fresh fruit was nice, and eggs and bacon were better than I was expecting.
