눉Breakfast at this Bed and Breakfast was horrible. They had set up a folding table with a Mr Coffee coffee maker, powdered creamer, and Sweet and Low pink sugar packets. There were Costco pastries and some grapes and cherries. A few slices of salami and cheese. There was a tupperware container of Chex cereal and a pitcher of milk. There were warm Yoplait yogurts on the table. All of these were served on paper plates, and there were styrofoam cups for the coffee. I paid for a gorgeous bed and breakfast, I got a continental breakfast from Motel 6. We ended up walking across the street and getting breakfast burritos at the market Deli. The Britt Scripps Inn currently is still very beautiful. But you can tell the new owners do not respect the building. The old girl is starting to show her age. The wood needs to be polished, the floors need to be scrubbed, big and little things need to be fixed. Are gorgeous claw-foot bathtub needed a good scrubbing. The mat you put in the tub to keep from slipping had mold on it. As much as I wanted to take a bath, I only used it as a shower. In the Renaissance room, our room, there was a hutch with what was supposed to be a TV and DVD player. There was a computer monitor, and DVD box, but neither of the things worked. There was actually not even electricity on the wall where it was placed. The gardens are atrocious. The things that are growing in the garden are just leftover plants. No beautiful flowers, all the trees need trimming. Part of the fence was falling down too. The patio furniture is all chained together. Made for an uncomfortable breakfast in the garden. Also, there's no more wine and cheese in the evening. I missed the communal breakfasts, and the evening gatherings. Part of the joy of staying at a bed-and-breakfast is the meeting of other guests. Not that there were many guests. It used to be hard to get a room there, now it's pretty easy.
눇The Britt Scripps Inn is beautiful. The staff is nice enough. The location near Balboa Park is excellent. Lots of neighborhood restaurants are amazing!

눉The breakfast buffet was absolutely miserable. For nearly $200 a night it is simply unacceptable. In details: plastic crockery and cutlery reconstituted orange juice bland untoasted toast-bread no butter available only one kind of awful cheese fruit which were past their prime milk that tasted as though it was coloured water Not even from a $25 hostel would I expect a breakfast so bad
눇The room was wonderful, a real historical treasure, and the location right next to Balboa Park perfect for my needs
