Decent basic hotel near Back Bay

Well located by a train and subway stop and near Back Bay. It is an acceptable and clean but slightly spartan hotel that can do in a pinch.

The fire alarm kept chirping for two nights and woke us up throughout the night. Its a little worrisome because its an older building.

It was very cute and cozy.

The hallway on our floor, smells a bit musty from lack of fresh air.

Location is excellent. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Complimentary coffee, croissant and fruit each day was a lovely touch. Rooms were basic but clean and beds very comfy.

I can only mention that the room itself is not large, and unfortunately, we didn't have a view; the window faced the inner courtyard. However, at the same time, this provided us with peace and quiet.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - they helped check in earlier than usual, which was very convenient after a long journey. The room we were provided with was clean, cozy, and provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel is located in an ideal location - right in the heart of Boston. We were satisfied with our choice of hotel.

The room was a bit small, but it was fully equipped with all the necessities. However, there was a constant hissing sound, and I couldn't locate its source.

The hotel is located in an amazing location on Boylston Street, a very central street. You can easily reach many points of interest even on foot. The staff was extremely welcoming, and the room was tidy and clean.

There was one night there was a lot of noise overhead -- like heavy footsteps and also the sound of things dropping. It went on for quite awhile. I was on 5th floor so I assumed it was someone on the 6th floor but my friend--who was on 3rd floor--heard it as well and said it went on until 3AM! We did mention something to the receptionist but she wasn't sure what it could have been.

The location in Back Bay was terrific. It was within walking distance to so much--the train station, the Commons, the Boston Fine Arts museum. Room was fine; hotel offered croissants and coffee for free in the morning. Check out is at noon, which is later than a lot of hotels.

The hotel might need a modernisation.

Fantastic location right in front of the Boston Public Library and few meters far away from Copley underground station and from Newbury Street. The view from the entrance of the hotel was priceless.

I know it's a European thing but tea/coffee-making facilities in the room would be a big plus.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room was a good size for one person and the bed very comfortable. The room temperature was perfect and it could be controlled if you want it a little warmer/colder. The shower was good and the bathroom close to the bed (important if you are older). The free tea/coffee/pastries in the morning were a nice surprise, as breakfast was not included in the price I paid.

When I checked in late in the evening, the person at the front desk did not really share anything, but I soon later found out that the two other people were told that there are free coffee and pastry available for all guests from 7:30 am. I don’t know why she wouldn’t share that with me? Also, when I walked into my room, the floor wasn’t that clean. More importantly, the toilet right next to my bed was flushing every other minute that I had a really hard time falling asleep or staying quiet in my room. I think given the hotel’s proximity to Boston’s city, my stay was not all that bad, but I think I deserved a better experience.

I loved the location. Right at the center of Back Bay. It was very convenient to roam around Boston.

Noisy mini refrigerator (I had to unplug it in order to sleep) and strange location (up in a high drawer - I had to use a chair), noisy AC/fan, no space for a small desk (a collapsible wooden board stuck in the wall could have been a solution), no view

Great location at the heart of Boston (Copley Square), clean and comfortable room, pleasant staff, complimentary coffee/tea/croissant at the 'breakfast area', 20% discount at the restaurant/breakfast area, DVD/VHS player (for the romantic guests)

The negatives were only annoyances, nothing significant. Lighting was a little low in the rooms, but once we figured out the dimmer (not obvious) along the switch it was much improved. We couldn't figure out how to operate the TV but that was probably just as well, better to pour over the Boston guide and discover the tons of things to see and do in Boston!

Excellent location for visiting art museums, near transportation and restaurants. Complementary morning coffee (delicious coffee!) and croissant was a convenient perk. Hotel staff were helpful and courteous. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. The Boston guide and map in the room were very helpful. Public parking was a short walk away. We benefited from the low-season January discount, so that was another major plus. The 20% discount at the downstairs Landwer café was a very welcome convenience with good food options (especially for vegetable lovers) and delicious tea.

Kettle should be provided in the room, i know the cafe is downstairs for day time but at night it would be better to be able to have a hot drink before bed. The staff did oblidge and give us hot water when requested but a kettle would be better.

The free complimentary breakfast was a Costco croissant. It literally came out of a shrink-wrapped box and was arranged on a platter to make it look like fresh baked. With the Cafe Landwer right on the premise I expected a little more than that. Also, ceramic mugs for coffee instead of only paper cups would have been a nice option for those who wanted to sit down for breakfast.

comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. Friendly staff at check-in. Logging onto the WiFi was easy and the connection stable. Fantastic location in the Backbay.
