Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The rooms on level one were close to the breakfast prep area, and our room smelled of burnt toast and fried food most of the am and early pm. Our door was also very hard to open because they are older from the original construction, just painted. The bathroom is very small and only has enough room to do basic needs for 1 person. We were charged $100 extra for 1 dog, which is much higher than some places. Pet fees should not cost more than one night of stay in a hotel, and the fact they claimed to be pet friendly and then charged a fee like that is not a factual representation. I would happily pay $25 or how about returning the money if no damages were done, like a $100 deposit we can get back. My dog is more behaved than most children I know. Hotels should be more transparent about being "pet friendly." I expect a fee, but not $100 just to bring my pet who goes with me everywhere. Clerk had a very hard time checking us in and getting the charges corrected from booking.com as well, but it was New Years Eve night, so I understand.
Great location, and the room was perfect for my dog. The door outside leads to a patio and boardwalk to take them out to potty without having to go through the hotel. Sheets were very soft, but the beds did lack comfort. There are plenty of nice pillows. Nice tile in entryway/bath. Easy walk to sand from patio area right on beach. Nice area with good restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Staff friendly. Breakfast was good, but very smelly on our floor, which made it hard to sleep.

Room was cold because the balcony door would not close. Not good for December …or July for that matter. Cold sit came in all night. Continuously running fan in the bathroom was annoying and loud.

Tv had a line across the screen and felt going to Spanish so I had to keep changing it back!

The heater shut down on us. We reported it, and it got fixed immediately. We were there for 4 nights, and we found roaches crawling around in the bathroom. Made it very difficult to sleep at night.
Food was excellent. We were there over Thanksgiving, and they had Thanksgiving dinner available. It was absolutely delicious! Breakfast was hot and plenty to go around.

I don't like booking a room months in advanced, calling to confirm that I have the room I requested only to get to the hotel and be told that the first floor room I wanted was overbooked and I've been upgraded to the 4th floor. That is not an upgrade. I can understand overlooking but when I called to confirm the room is when I should of been told not the day I checked in. Might have to rethink where I stay next year
This is our favorite place to stay when we go to OBX. Location is great, easy access to the beach. Quiet and friendly.

Our third floor room had an ocean view. There was a small but very nice outdoor area near the walk way to the beach…..which was just steps away! Miller’s restaurant was right across the road and fed us well!

Building does seem somewhat dated, but overall met our expectations.
Breakfast was great and tasty. Ate onsite every morning which allowed us to get our day started earlier. The beach size was good. Low tide is very short this time of year so you had to really had to time your beach time carefully. Otherwise had a great time on the beach.

The bathroom was dirty. I had to unclog the drain myself. The balcony a/c leaked on ours from the floor above.
How close it was to the beach and the pool and outside sand showers, the breakfast was actually great! Variety of choices. The front counter staff ladies are great the room corning people are not helpful and don’t clean rooms the best
