Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

No baggage storage.
From the pictures in the ad, it was difficult to tell what the room would look like. But the room we got was pretty good and the shower was much better than what we expected from the pictures.

Bathtub wouldn't drain properly from day 1 and there was an extra cleaning fee.
After reading bad reviews about how small and loud the rooms were I was scared. But luckily my partner and I got a corner room and it was quite big and good for a 2 week stay. Loved the fridge and microwave as well and the view out onto Elridge street. The location is excellent. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and like across the street from 2nd avenue subway. Check in was fairly seamless although communication with them was lack luster beforehand. It was easy to go downstairs to get more toiletries if needed. Also the front desk often had free snacks.

It was quite warm in the room even though the heater was off and the window open. Especially on the weekends you can hear what is happening on the street a lot. It could have been a little bit cleaner upon arrival.
The room has a decent size, and also a quite nice bathroom. It also comes with a fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker. In the basement you can find new towels, bed sheets, soap as well as a station to fill up your water bottle and coffee. For two people the room was optimal. The rooftop is really nice and the view is stunning! There are plenty of great food spots in walking distance and as well as a subway and bus stop.

If you a light slepper be aware that this hotel is close to a main road and a busy area so there will be outside noise.
easy access to subway, shops and local bars and clubs. room was spacious and clean. People at reception are super friendly and help in any way they can.

There was a group of girls staying in 104 down the hall from me that were extremely loud all night long the last 2 nights of my stay. They sounded like they were having a party, screaming and slamming doors and stomping up and down the hall. This went on until early in the morning. This has never happened to me before at the Ridge or anywhere else and I was frustrated that there was no staff there to assist.
Fantastic location. Easy check in. Great value. I stay here every time I come to the city

A larger room always makes a stay away from home better, but in NYC you can't expect a big room! Small, minor areas that could be cleaner (dirty curtain, moldy spots in tub - nothing unexpected for an older building).
The Ridge is a gem! The rooftop (7th floor) area was an awesome bonus - great views of the city. The front door staff was super friendly & helpful. The room was cozy with a nice sized bathroom, microwave & mini-fridge - bonus! Access to the building & room was easy plus right by the metro!

Small rooms, they should improve the furniture and the doors let in all the sound of the hallway, which was annoying at bedtime.

The room looked different and was much smaller as on the picture. There was no working wifi in the room, if I wanted to use it for things which take more internet than WhatsApp I needed to go in front of the door.
The rooftop is great, it was clean and comfortable.

the walls are so paper thin you can literally hear what your neighbors are saying, and even though there is a quiet hours policy, someone always woke me up at night when they arrived home (also had a quite surreal waking up experience to someone on my floor getting sick in the middle of the night, too :D), also, walking around my room in white socks made me realize the floor was quite dirty on day one, and I'm not sure about how often they clean the rooms (saw staff going around in the building) but my trash cans never got emptied during my 6 night stay which was a bit disappointing, and lastly, the WiFi almost never worked so I ended up just buying myself a traveller e-sim to have data
the location is perfect, the check-in/check-out process is really easy, the room has everything you need (TV, microwave, fridge -including freezer, coffee machine, iron, hair dryer) and the rooftop view is amazing

No storage available. No cleaning was included on the price, only with very tiny conditioner and shampoo was available for two persons for 6 nights.
Very good location. Little treats and candies available for free. Early check in was possible
