There was a steep decline in staffing since the last time I visited. Spa staff were seriously overwhelmed and could not accommodate guest requests. The manager was helpful when I shared concerns but I hope this is remedied because it impacted our spa experience which has been one of the highlights of previous stays.

For the amount of money we paid, we expected to receive 5 star amenities. However the hotel rooms and bathrooms were date.

The hotel bares the name of "Hotel & Spa", however, the actual spa service is extra. The hotel does have an outdoor pool which guests could use for free. However, it was impractical in the cold raining winter. The actual spa with the indoor pools, however aren't free. Guests have to pay $49 for a day pass. We was surprised to find out we had to pay extra for the spa pool. In addition, there was a waiting list for the pools and bath house, so, the service was not guaranteed if you are willing to pay. We wish the website would have that information.

wish there was more sun when you sit out. I know it is the time of year, but not enough lounges in the sun. WE got there early 8 am and most were already reserved.

The breakfasts were delicious. The hotel car available to take us to downtown Sonoma was terrific. Watsu and Kitsu (the masseuse) could not have been better. It was a spiritual experience. I was disappointed that I could not get my aqua facial. Need more and better food choices outside by the pool.

Woman Bartender at pool was horrible! Horrible attitude and service. kinda ruined the 1st day for us.

The hotel was very very crowded with families and lots and lots of kids and dogs. our room was across from an ice machine in a cavernous hallway so it was pretty loud most of the time. For the pricing , that part was disappointing.

All the staff were really friendly and service was great. A particular highlight for us was our hike with Ed, which the hotel offers as a complimentary outing. Ed was super enthusiastic and it was a real highlight of our trip. The lobby is very comfortable, with board games for guests to enjoy over a glass of wine. We also enjoyed the live music and food truck, which is open on Fridays and Saturdays.

Not a big fan of pets at hotels. Unfortunately, the spa pump went out during our visit so we could not enjoy those facilities, which looked very nice.

We liked that the fireplace was always going during a cold visit. The food was excellent - great and creative breakfast menu, excellent dinner options both at Sante and in the Bar.

There is a path leading to many of the rooms, (on the backsode of the pool) that isn't lighted at all. It seemed perhaps unsafely dark

The staff that greeted us at the spa were wonderful. Our esthetician was great! And the entire spa was very relaxing. In general, the facility was wonderful. But it was that staff that made it exceptional.

Our rooms were nothing special. The air conditioning was struggling to keep up. The amenities in our room were average to below average. The beds were very comfortable. The guest parking lot was full on Friday and Saturday nights.

It was beautiful. We enjoyed the live music Friday and Saturday evenings.

EDIT: After posting this review the hotel called me and made it up to us. couple of gripes. when we arrived we asked for a room with a tub. we were assured our room would have one. it did not. when we got to the room there were dirty towels on the floor. We called in and asked if we could switch rooms, they said they’d call back but didn’t. we didn’t push it too hard since we were only there for one night. finally just asked for fresh towels. they brought them promptly. I let reception know our issues in the morning. they apologized but didn’t really do anything. for the price of this place I would have expected at least something small comped or a fee waived. was a bit of a bummer, our one year anniversary and newborn twins at home for this one night..
