To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomI was charged a 100 $ damage deposit even though we were staying just for 1 night and they already had my card authorization. The refund is not given at check out but days later. .
The room was spacious, generally clean. The bed was comfortable. We were able to check in earlier which was great.

United States of AmericaThe three elevators did not work. two were down for repair and third went down after storm. I was surprised this was not a bigger safety concern for property. Another guest who stays at property frequently informed us the elevator issue had been problem for 3-4 months. room was fairly clean but when I see hairs in bathroom area I am not certain housekeepers are meticulous enough.. wallpaper peeling in room, the cable or TV was grainy and poor quality, this property is in need of remodel and updates. definitely not worth what I paid and did not offer breakfast, I was very disappointing in stay.

United States of AmericaThe staff was polite but not accommodating when asked for a receipt. The hotel seemed more like a young person hangout. Lots of foot traffic. People that were there in the parking lot seemed to be more interested in opportunities than to get rest. No security to speak of & no manager to help people to get to where they need to be. Hopefully my words can only improve safety for everyone that works & visits there
