Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing.
Very welcoming historic hotel. Our room was small, however it had a sunny balcony with sea views. Facilities were good. A light continental breakfast was provided, however you had to take it to your room. Free parking at the hotel and outside. Location was great with a short walk to Carmel.

United States of AmericaLocation was on the hill of Carmel, but still walking distance to the beach. Food was a simple continental breakfast, but coffee or tea was good. No bathtub in my room, but the shower was fine if older. The place had charm and loved the dutch doors to see the view and get fresh air.

United KingdomIt was a little bit old fashioned and a little bit noisy from other guests walking past the room but only minor things.
Great location in walking distance of all the restaurants, bars and shops in Carmel. Free parking at the hotel. Good sized, well equipped room. Continental breakfast available in the lobby if you want it.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast is minimal and there is no place to stay while eating. This morning there were 2 apples and 2 oranges, one yogurt yoplait (the cheapest yogurt ever) and one piece of pastry. We had to split and ended up going elsewhere for a decent breakfast. No eggs, no other fruit, no water, no toasts and not even one piece for each one of us. Disappointing.

Located at the entrance of the town, The front desk was very friendly and recommended restaurants for us, the hotel is very warm, the rooms are quite large, and the bed covers are very beautiful. The room was well ventilated and the change of clothes dried in one night. Breakfast is served with hot coffee and tea, milk and juice, and bread. Simple but enough

BrazilWe went for breakfast at 8:40 (it starts at 8) and there were no more croissants with ham and cheese, there was just 1 plain left and various sweet options. As I have diabetes, I just had a black coffee and we went out for breakfast. So I recommend going early if you want to have all the options. The walls are a little thin, so for people who find it difficult to sleep, this can be a problem.
Very friendly reception staff. Room with a good size and clean. There was no extra charge for parking, which was great as it's hard to find spaces on the street. They offer a small breakfast at reception with croissants, fruit, sweet yogurt, juice, coffee, milk and tea. You can eat at reception or take it to your room on a tray. The location was great.
