Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe front staff, my reception at the Hotel, being ignored and left outside the building for quite a while at 11pm at night after long drive from a different state. Being belittled and rudely treated, in front of other people. When i arrived, the front desk staff was rude. I rang the bell and he ignored me for almost 10 mins, even though the other guest in the lobby area noticed that i was ringing the intercom bell. He then eventually spoke to the intercom and asked how he could help me. I told i was trying to checkin. He then proceeded to ask me, through the intercom if i had a reservation. I responded yes, i did. He then buzzed me in. I walked up to the front desk and he didn't speak a word to me or acknowledge me untill the couple in front left. Then he proceeded to ask for my ID. No greeting, no welcome!. I handed it over and he asked when did i make a reservation, i said over a week ago. He then said, he is not able to pull anything up in my name, if the reservation is in someone else's name. I said no. It is in my name. He then asked if i booked through Hilton or third-party, i said i had booked through a third-party, bookings.com, and that i can provide a confirmation number. He responded rudely that, "well, I'm sorry i cannot pull anything up that wasn't done through Hilton reservations" I then asked what did he want me to do, that i had already been charged for my booking, and earlier in the day, i had communicated with a staff prior to arrival through the phone, Corinne. He then proceeded to check on his system again and found out that Corrine had checked me in earlier. That was when he then proceeded to process my reservation and hand over the room card. This was my reception after a long drive into North Carolina at 11:30 pm at night. I was highly disappointed that i was treated this way.
