눉The worst and most mystifying part of our experience was the condescending attitude of a restaurant manager who attempted to defend his lazy cook staff when a rather expensive breakfast was prepared incorrectly. If a restaurant manager is to interact with guests (he called our room explicitly to argue the point AFTER the issue had been resolved), then he ought to be trained in customer service; and as he manages a restaurant, he ought to have a knowledge of food preparation at least on par with a short-order cook, or any average person who knows the difference between "over medium" and "sunny side up"! The food in general is bland, with a premium placed on presentation rather than quality; it's pretty enough to look at but not particularly exciting to eat. The room was clean enough, except that the bedsheets had some foul-looking brown stains on them; the front desk had the issue promptly attended to, but the poor woman who came to our room with a change of sheets had to look for another set when she discovered the sheets she had brought were ALSO dirty. The hotel is fine at sending happy upbeat automatic text messages wishing guests a happy stay and basking in the contented responses (you get so many of these it feels like a neurotic bf/gf hunting for validation), but is out of its element when it comes to handling real issues: effusive and meaningless apologies as a strategy to get guests to shut up is hardly customer service. And yet this is listed on a number of sites as one of the "best" hotels in Nashville. The stress here should be on Nashville. I live in this town, and I'm well aware of the self-promotional hype that manures the public discourse about the new "it" city. All I can say about the notion that the Hutton might be one of the "it" hotels is shhhhhh. In general, my advice would be to spend a little extra money for a good hotel or a little less money for an ordinary one.

눉House keeping staff knock and open door without giving you time to respond, this happened twice. Could have been a very embarrassing situation!
