Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaHotel is very basic, definitely old. It would be nice if they included breakfast in the price. Or at least offer coffee.
The hotel is in a really good location. Close to everything yet very quiet neighborhood. But the staff was my favorite thing about this place.

AustraliaGreat place to stay. Well located, quiet, comfortable and large room and bed, staff are polite, interested and helpful. Main issue was that wifi was intermittently not working in my room due to a poor signal.

United States of AmericaHeat to the building was permanently turned off, but staff did not make that clear until we asked why our heater only blew cold air. Wi-Fi terrible - almost a deal breaker.
Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful! Neighborhood well above average. Happy hour was a nice treat. Lots of close restaurants.

United KingdomFurnishings in my room needed updating; i.e. curtains (could only have 1 open, the other was broken), a stained & faded pink (?) upholstered chair (I would dump that straightaway) & big bathroom mirror had a huge crack in it. Shame, because apart from these it was a spacious & comfortable room, with a good sized fridge & wardrobe.
Hotel is located in a nice neighbourhood, a short walk to nearest metro & to Adams Morgan area. Breakfast selection in this hotel may be limited for choice for some people, but to me it was fine. The wine & cheese hour (between 5&6pm) is a nice touch for the guests & the wines on offer were good enough.

United States of AmericaThe air conditioning was not working, so we had to open the small window for a breeze, which made the sounds from outside more amplified.
The Normandy was in a quiet and beautiful part near Kalorama and 10 min walk to DuPont Circle and Adams Morgan. Super friendly staff who were always smiling and said hello. The building seemed more like a house than a hotel and room feels very cozy. Parking is available in their garage for $42 per day, but neighborhood parking is free on the weekends after 8:30pm on Fridays.

IrelandWe booked a bigger room and it was incredibly small and the bathroom was tiny. Our room was not serviced for the 4 night stay despite asking us how often would we like it done. The rooms need complete updating and are not as nice as they appear on the photos. Ill fitted cheap carpets and stained curtains that we couldn't open fully. It is more like a large bed and breakfast than a hotel.
Location was very good, near metro, restaurants and in the beautiful embassy district They allowed a late check out to 1pm. The breakfast was good at 15 dollars given prices in america. Lovely cheese and wine reception at 5pm each evening. The staff were very helpful and nice.

Comfortable hotel in a decent location. We used to live in DC and like the price, security and friendliness of the hotel.

BelarusPrivate parking was advertised, it was the reason we booked the hotel. Apon arival we were informed that there was no parking temporarily because of construction. The lady on reception could not explain properly our other options offering moving car every 2 hours on the street. Thankfully there was another worker who explained better.
