눉The beds earn an ouch, my back aches in the morning. I slept ok, but it was too soft-- sort of sink toward your bedmate. The woodstoves in the cabins are smoky if you leave the door open, so not for sitting around gazing into the flames. The restaurant is only so-so, but cabin facilities are good for cooking if you plan to do everything on the stove top or microwave. The hotel grocery store was better stocked with real food than a 7-11, but I think we were smart to bring all our food as if we were camping. The nearest supermarket must be 40 miles. We brought the electric pancake skillet, and that made breakfast for the 4 of us, grilled sandwiches for lunch. One surprising thing about the cabin we stayed in that slept 5 (2 queen, 1 futon couch) was that while there was a dividing wall between the bedroom and main room with bed, kitchen, futon, table and 4 chairs, there was no door. Things for mom and dad were a little less romantic than planned with the teen and preteen in the front room.
눇The beaches in this area are so pristine and varied. This is an isolated location so bring your own entertainment- but the plus is you don't get that ticky-tacky beach village vibe. The cabins are nice for sitting out the rain storms, playing games, etc. They have a game room at the lodge also with a fireplace. Mentioning AAA membership got all 4 of us one breakfast entree and beverage in the lodge restaurant including gratuity for each day of our stay.
