Downtown San Francisco is in a clear decline when compared to five years ago, when I last visited. So the area at night is not as safe as it used to be. Solo travellers should be careful. Again, this is not the hotel fault by no means.

The hotel is around the corner to Union Square. The whole area used to be "it" before the pandemic, but now is in decline. The hotel is a historical site, so the facilities are obviously not what you expect from brand new hotel. However, it is well preserved and maintained. The decor reflect the former grand times of San Francisco. Rooms are clean and confortable, very, very confy beds! Free coffee and cookies in the morning. I ordered some things to be delivered by mail, and the reception desk was very prompt to received the multiple packages. Thank you!

Shower pressure and temperature was a bit variable. Charging $2 for bottles of water at reception seems a bit much, given the price of the rooms - a bottle a day could be provided. Some of the decoration seems a little worn.

The hotel is perfectly located for the centre of San Francisco. The room was comfortable and well equipped with a comfortable bed, an iron, and coffee and tea making facilities. There is free coffee available in the lounge in the mornings, and biscotti or cakes, which was nice to collect on my way out to meetings. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, attending to all my requests. I asked to move room initially (because of some noise from the elevator) and they assisted with this right away.

Bathroom is a bit dated. Could do with a refresh. The shower was difficult to get the temperature right, too hot or too cold and the shower was pokie and small considering the bathroom was a good size.

Perfect location, walking distance to union square and close to many restaurants. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. They provided the kettle on the request. Friendly staff.

The rooms have kettle and a coffee maker but it's only coffee pods that are available, would be nice to add a couple of tea bags! But this is a really minor detail

I enjoyed my stay very much: friendly staff, efficient room service, very quiet room and comfortable bed. The location was also great, next to Union Square and to the Hilton hotel where I needed to attend a big conference. I can recommend this hotel for staying when on business trips or for tourist vacations.

One of the bedrooms had a King Size bed, great. In the other there were 2 queen size beds, our children had to share the bed and it was not so comfortable for them, the queen size was quite small for a couple.

Great location, right next to Union Square and the cable car line. Old historic building, large hall with beautiful decoration. The rooms were spacious. The hotel offers a continental breakfast which is very limited, but there are several breakfast options nearby, we loved Lori's. Great starting point for exploring San Francisco.

Please put kettle, tea bags and mugs in the room as a matter of course. Also the bathroom needed a loo brush. The only small irritation regarding noise was that there was an alarm on the building opposite that kept sounding annoyingly for no apparent reason, which was intrusive when we had the window open.

Comfortable room and bed. The staff allowed us access early (1.30pm) which was welcome after a long flight and also found us a room on a lower floor which was our preference.

The room was nice but a bit little for 4 persons (2 double beds), without much space to store our clothes or have our suitcases open.

Excellent location, very confortable beds and bathroom. Complimentary simple breakfast included, thay was very well for us. The staff is very attentive, with excellent predisposition to help.

The only small negative was the shower, it was an old fashion shower head that wasn't adjustable with nor enough power.

The location is excellent and walking distance to most things we wanted to see. The room was of good size and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend. Ps although it doesn't do breakfast there are plenty of good places to go and it wasn't a problem for us.

Quite noisy, lots of door slamming by cleaning staff early in the morning. Alarms going off across the street at the car park every time a car comes out. Also it’s in downtown which we wanted to avoid but the address is very near the area of tenderloin which is full of serious crime.

Had a real old style feel to the place which added some charm to our stay. The hotel has a theatre also which was nice even though we didn’t see a show. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Took A few requests to get a coffee machine delivered to the room but again this wasn’t a major issue.

Since my friend and I arrived separately and were paying separately, we confused the staff a little bit. It worked out fine in both cases, but just took a few extra minutes.

The staff was very helpful in providing little things we needed like paper plates and plastic silverware. It was also located very centrally, just off Union Square and on the trolley line that went up Powell.
