Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The wifi in the room did not work properly, the connection always was unstable.
Clean rooms and spaces, staff very helpful in everything. The location is great, very close to the main touristic attractions, and very connected also by bus. They also provide some coffe in the morning.

The room could have been a little larger, but this is par for the course at vintage hotels in San Francisco.
My wife and I were enroute from the east coast to New Zealand when a flight cancellation forced us to get a room in San Francisco for the night. We were skeptical of the relatively low price for a lodging near Union Square, but rolled the dice anyway. What a pleasant surprise! Counter staff were very friendly, the lobby/lounge was very welcoming, and the room was immaculate. Only a short walk from the King George and we were at Union Square; various cafes and eateries were within five minutes on foot. Our stay set us up well for a very pleasant day of exploring downtown before flying out for Auckland.

Bathroom window, unable to close to block out the cooling or heating system noise located on the roof below.
Great location. Nice surprise of coffee and pastries serviced in the morning. Charming decor. Very clean.

The elevator is small and the rooms had carpet and seemed a bit old. Also, the windows let a lot of city noises pass, and having a big glass window on the bathroom was not the most comfortable thing - even with curtains I felt that maybe a window film would be a great addition to improve the privacy.
The location was excellent, within walking distance from the train, cable car, good restaurants, and Union Square. The staff was friendly and prompt to help. The room was a decent size, the bathroom was clean, with hot water, and had the basic amenities. Wifi worked ok for my needs.

Hot water took 15 mins to come through taps on first use, but it did come! Access to step-in bath/shower very awkward past toilet, not suitable for everyone.
Great location. Upgraded to a King size bed. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Very Clean. We made a travel to a several national parks and stood over in some hotels that were extremely dirty. This was very good, my girlfriend loved the smell of a clean bathroom.

The rugs are pretty smelly. Rooms very small, but comfortable though.
The location is awesome. The staff super friendly. Sebastián was amazing, he helped us with some issues.

Sometimes it was loud but this is Sam Francisco you are in the big city
Everything what you need was there. We ask for more cushion, no problem. The bed was the best what we ever had, you awake and nothing hurts.

Room was small even though it was a king and the shower took a while to heat up. One wrong turn and you are in an area that felt very unsafe.

I like the hotel itself, but sadly I felt being in downtown San Francisco was not safe.
Really like the "old" style building, the decor was very nice, the room was adequate size for 2 friends, the whole hotel was well looked after and clean and the location was good for being near the metro, the tram etc.

The room was a bit small however for a short stay it’s fine.
Strategic position closed to Union Square. Room was clean and with tea kettle. Really appreciated that in the lobby you can also refill your water bottle and every morning grab a tea/coffee.
