Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe had Xmas Night dinner in your restaurant which was sadly a very disappointing experience - starting from the gentlemen who served us did not want to be there - made obvious .The main meal came prior to the entree being finished and the same gentlemen ( although of course it was not his fault ) didnt even say "apologies " . The food also was not very good
the front desk staff where fabulous -

United States of AmericaBecause the room was small and tight, we stubbed our toes and knees a couple of times on the bed frame corners. The heater/radiator is not heating the room quickly and makes a dripping/tinkering noise. We can also hear the next-door occupants so we were very conscious about the noises we make.
The room was small, clean, and cozy, and the bed was comfy. There was a lot of storage like drawers and a separate room like a closet. The location was perfect with the ocean view, window shutters can be opened for better view.

United States of AmericaParking They didn’t have enough parking for all rooms. We had to park in the EV spot because there was no other parking available. Told us we had to move it because our car wasn’t EV. They gave us a spot in the sister hotel across but then asked us to move that again too . They should not advertise free parking if they didn’t have enough spots . At least make a note so people will know about the inconvenience and think about alternatives. Room noise : there was a lot of noise from upstairs unit. We could hear them walking upstairs and the wood making a lot of noise and kept us awake at night .
Location was amazing Our room was great specious and comfortable

United States of AmericaThe entrance to the hotel from the parking area was not clearly marked. We wandered for some time looking for our way in. It should be noted that some rooms are up a fairly long flight of stairs and there doesn't appear to be an elevator.
You can't beat the location for a visit to Carmel that is geared towards walking about town. The staff on check-in and check-out was very friendly. It is an older building and I found the rooms charming.

United States of AmericaThe tub was not as large as I expected. Some of the items were a little outdated. A tapestry or something to dampen outside noise would have minimized noise from the people outside a bit. The room was next to the bakery and the door just opens to the room. A lot of foot traffic could be heard sometimes.
Room easy to find and very clean. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Tons of shops and places to eat either in the hotel building or right outside. Communication before booking to answer any questions I had.

NetherlandsThe hotel restaurant is something of an oddity. In the weekend breakfast isn't included. We wanted to have a snack after arrival at 9:30 pm and were told that the restaurant closes at 9pm on Friday night! There are no coffee making facilities in the rooms because, apparently, the restaurant forbids it. At more than $300 per night, I expect to have coffee facilities in the room and don't give a damn what the restaurant says about it!
A very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was nice, with a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. While the hotel is old/historic the hotel is old, it is well-maintained. Some people seem to think this is not the case, but if you're looking for a brand new place, then this isn't the best choice.
