눉I booked the hotel because of its location in relation to friends of mine who live in Atlanta and went by the mapping from booking.com only to discover the hotel was no where near were I wanted to be. Booking.com passed the buck back to the hotel, as it was 'there' problem. I mentioned it to Christina in reception on arrival and she shrugged it off. Not sure that is fantastic customer service?? On arrival I was assigned a room and going in it was filthy, they relocated me immediately to a relatively clean room! They look like they have done a half baked attempt at a remodel of the rooms although still very tacky and dated, but then you get what you pay for. Although a good hotel chain is over the road and for around $60 extra you can have a fabulous room, breakfast for around $13 and a swimming pool. Although their location is also incorrect on booking.com. The hotel is located on a very busy road and there are no decent places to eat or shop in easy walking distance. There are also a number of questionable establishments nearby and was 'chatted' up by a guy waiting for the bus who looked very suspicious and was clearly flying high on something! Not a safe environment for a woman travelling alone. Clearly not a family destination either. Public transport (Marta) links are OK and the train station is a short (15 min and around $12) taxi ride away. Although if you want restaurants and shops it is a good 25 min bus ride away. I did not feel safe in the Hotel over the weekend and the noise level was questionable during the night with people coming and going. The air conditioning will also keep you awake and turning it off with soaring temperatures of around 36 degrees is not an option! I wont be returning to a red roof inn in a hurry.
눇Sandra one of the house keepers was absolutely amazing and even helped me with bus routes! A few of the other staff were also most welcoming including Wilbur (who gave a homeless family money at the bus stop) Ray who always had a cheerful Good morning and Roger who I always bugged for my milk which he kindly kept in the staff fridge for me as they only had coffee mate!
