Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe room was very small but still comfortable since we were out all day anyway
Great location (amazingly quiet considering how close to a main road it is!), comfy beds with lovely sheets - very clean. Helpful friendly staff

United States of AmericaIt might have been me (I have an increasing amount of neck pain recently), but my boyfriend and I thought the pillows were useless/uncomfortable. Definitely try to bring your own if you can. If you're plus size or immobile keep in mind the bathroom is cute but tiny and you may be uncomfortable.
The staff helped me out - they were helpful and had integrity (I interacted with a woman and a man, don't remember their names). They were awesome, and the rooms were clean! Me and my boyfriend loved the location - it's maybe a 20-min walk to the Promenade.

United States of AmericaThere was nothing that I didn't like; I think having a microwave would have made it much better, since we were bringing home leftovers from restaurants, but little way to make some of them usable (like soup). Depending on where your room is located on the single row of units, you may hear people making their orders on the Jack-in-the-Box drive-through station. It didn't bother us because it was Xmas time we did't seen many customers, plus, we were out much of the day. This is an old property, but well-maintained. The shower stall in Unit 3 had some draining sluggishness, but we mentioned it to the clerk and it was ameliorated by the time we returned at the end of the day. Draining problems like this, as he mentioned, are part of having an old property. As long as they are responsive at addressing it, I'd stay here again.
If you need to be right on the beach, this is not your motel. But, if you're not spending much time in your room and don't mind a short walk (slightly uphill on the way back), this could be your place. For us, the nexus of location and value are good. To walk to the beach, you have to cross Lincoln Blvd. If you don't want to cross a thoroughfare like Lincoln, there are other motels just across the street on the ocean side of Lincoln. Still, there's a signal at the corner of Pico Blvd. two blocks away (plus there's Starbucks at that corner your caffeine in the morning) and if you just follow Pico downhill, you end up where Shutters on the Beach hotel is. Not bad. You get a little style at the unit: The furnishings were modern and thoughtful for the small space, and the towels are good (not luxury-fluffy, but not feel new). There's a large screen TV on the wall and free Wifi. Our priorities were to have a motel that was clean, comfortable and had easy parking, without worrying that the lot was full and we had to look on the street. We stayed in Unit 3, a single queen-bed room, which was *just* big enough for a small desk, a nightstand, a stylish chair and a small refrigerator. Attractive, vinyl plank floors. The bathroom has dated tile, but that's expensive to remodel. There was a nice fold-up chair in the closet space to use. We needed a comfortable place to sleep, but not spend time in, since our days and evenings were used to visit nearby family and walk the beach). We checked in on Dec. 23 and the desk clerk walked us to the room, and opened the door, ushered me in and handed me the key (yes, an old-fashioned motel key!), where the floor lamp was already lit. A small, but wholly unexpected, nice touch. We interacted with three staff members over three days and they were all unfailingly pleasant, accommodating and friendly. The footprint of the motel office, units and the parking lot is compact.

United States of AmericaVery small room. Old and tired. Bed needs to bed replaced.
The place is cute and charming and very old and small. The room was clean but is in need of upgrades. The bed was difficult for my wife and I (we are not big people) in that we kept rolling into the center of the bed.

PanamaVery old hotel.
Location was great, short drive from Santa Monica beach maybe a 15 minute walk. It was a very simple hotel, the exit of the room went directly outside so it felt a little expose; the guy that checked us in was very friendly and willing to help out. The cleanliness was superb.

United KingdomPrices seemed very inflated for a very modest room. For half the price I have been staying in very modern or well renovated rooms. Maybe demand was high just before the long weekend. There was not much room to move with suitcases. I was glad to have somewhere to stay after a very delayed international flight but would not want to stay any longer.
Easy check in and parking.
