Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaA breakfast, included with the room would be nice for those days you get up early, and the excellent local eating places are not open yet.
The ambiance of the hotel as it was built long ago, yet updated to modern conveniences inside, give it a certain charm that's hard to replicate. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect being in the Pearl District of downtown Portland.

CanadaWould have been nice to have coffee and tea available in the room (was available 24/7 in the lobby).
Staff very friendly and helpful, gave us an upgrade to a corner room, which was very nice. Good location, close to Powell's Books and many restaurants close by. Comfortable bed. Five minute taxi ride from train station.

United States of AmericaMore detailed cleaning around edges and behind furniture. This separates a good hotel from a great hotel. Also might help with the smells as you open the door to your room.

United States of AmericaThat we didn't think to get the late check out.
Location, rooms, amenities, the view! Solid walls didn't hear anything or anyone else. The food, bars, and activities are endless. It will become our go to when we are staying downtown.

United States of AmericaThere was no breakfast, just complementary coffee and tee.
One of the best and believe or not, cheapest hotel, we ever stayed at in USA. Perfect location, in downtown Portland and one block away from the well known, Powell’s City of Books. Nice room with a beautiful bathroom. Parking garage paid extra, but it wasn’t so much compared to other hotels.

Great location. Close to many good restaurants. Only few minutes walk to Powell’s Books. Spacious and super clean room. Quiet at night. The pictures on web make the hotel look quite old while the real place is in very good conditions. Friendly staffs.

United States of AmericaThere was missing silverware from the kitchenette; housekeeping should have caught this and corrected it before I checked in. The nonstick skillet is very badly scratched, and not healthy to use.

United States of AmericaWe didn’t know about getting a room key to open their garage so had to drive around a bit to find a public parking and then walked to the hotel to check in and get the room key. Also, the elevator needs maintenance soon, it had noises and kind of jiggling going down. And their cafe is not open on Monday and Tuesday! I’d have loved to try their drinks!
Great location, right at the city center. Within walking distance to different places and also very close to public transport stations. The check-in and out process was smooth. They offered a garage for $32 per night, which was under the basement of the hotel. You would need to park in front of the hotel to check in first and then get a room key to open the garage door on the other side of the building. Overall, very good price!

United States of AmericaWe were placed right next to the outside construction and it was loud. Pre-pandemic we always saw the same team, they knew us and every visit was a homecoming. In the last few years, the turnover has been so high that we never see the same person twice.
The rooms are always comfortable and I love the bathrooms - these are the best showers in town

CanadaA bit of an industrial noise coming from outside. A strong smell coming from the bathroom like a cleaning product that faded away with time. A problem with hot water, but we were offered a discount for that which was very generous.
Loved the beds, super comfy. The kitchenette was very equipped. The place was very clean., , a bit of a strong smell coming from the bathroom is great, close to coffee shops and restaurants. Parking was priced fairly and underground super safe. If I ever go back to Portlanf I will stay here again.

CanadaThe neighborhood has changed a bit, it's quieter and you'll find more unhoused people around than pre pandemic, but that being said you're still right next to Powells books :)
Second stay at the hotel and I love it. The quality for the price is unbeatable. I dream about those plush robes...
