To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

On my check out day there was only one receptionist at the front desk, although they were very nice, and there was only 1 other guest in front of me, it took me about 20 minutes just to take my luggage out from concierge. The shower stall in the bathroom could use some more lighting, felt quite dim when the shower curtain is pulled up.
Staff was really nice. The apple cider provided in the lobby was delicious. Location was easy to get to. Room was spacious.

Hotel was in a great location. Close to the metro station and the lovely Georgetown area. Room was really large and obviously features historic decorating. Room was clean and bed comfortable.

I was kindly asked - would I like juice and coffee, it appeared that coffee and juice is extra plus taxes as usual in US. finally simple breakfast price was unexpected 50 usd.

IndiaWe faced a slight issue with the airconditioner but that is it and the pillows are slightly too high for our liking, but that is a personal choice. I think the addition of a microwave in the room or a common space would have been fantastic as well.
The location was fantastic. The proximity to both Foggy Bottom metro station and metro buses made it comfortable. The staff was exceptional. I would particularly like to mention Lelise and Sabi who welcomed us everyday cheerfully and solved all our queries immediately as well as the Assistant Manager Abdul who took a generous time off his schedule to give us a list of interesting places to dine at. The stay was overall comfortable and I would definitely choose Melrose the next time I am at Georgetown.
