Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content

- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Only minor issue is it took a few minutes to find hotel staff to check us in at the front desk at 7 pm. Otherwise service met/exceeded expectations.
The location is very convenient and the beds were extremely comfortable.

The valet were very helpful and kind when we were arrived and timely when it was time to leave. The front desk was accomodating and easy. The room was clean and very comfortable. Will be staying here again!

Receptionists need more smiley faces :)
Complimentary coffee and tea station in the morning from 7-11 and hot apple cider station in the evening. They are Well prepared for all guests.

We booked for a triple room ( 1 adult , 2 big kids), although there was a (small) coach , it could not be used as a third bed . We had a late check in, so no time to adjust

The property was very pretty however, it was way too warm in the rooms. The air would not change you have to open up the window. The TV didn’t work for three days. And they do nothing to accommodate

Overall felt understaffed. On my check out day there was only one receptionist at the front desk, although they were very nice, and there was only 1 other guest in front of me, it took me about 20 minutes just to take my luggage out from concierge. The shower stall in the bathroom could use some more lighting, felt quite dim when the shower curtain is pulled up.
Staff was really nice. The apple cider provided in the lobby was delicious. Location was easy to get to. Room was spacious.

I hate the bath/shower combination in the bathroom with the shower curtain. I know this is common in USA or in older properties though.
Hotel was in a great location. Close to the metro station and the lovely Georgetown area. Room was really large and obviously features historic decorating. Room was clean and bed comfortable.

Bathroom would have to be refreshed as well. water tap in the bath was not fixed well. while looking for power socket next to bed I have found some private thing from previous guest. not nice. breakfast was mentioned to cost 27 Eur. I was kindly asked - would I like juice and coffee, it appeared that coffee and juice is extra plus taxes as usual in US. finally simple breakfast price was unexpected 50 usd.

Being a historic building the temperature control is tricky…having to sleep with the window open to regulate the temperature. Had to switch rooms as the heat could not be turned off in our original room and the second room ran warm as well.
Location is a perfect distance to enjoy Georgetown and downtown DC.

We were charged $105 for 5 nights that we stayed despite of the payment already made on Booking.com. We disputed the charges, after calling customer service few times, it was solved but it was quite a hassle!

We had an issue with our toilet, and had to ask the front desk twice to fix it. Eventually, we had to fix the toilet ourselves by taking off the top.

We faced a slight issue with the airconditioner but that is it and the pillows are slightly too high for our liking, but that is a personal choice. I think the addition of a microwave in the room or a common space would have been fantastic as well.
The location was fantastic. The proximity to both Foggy Bottom metro station and metro buses made it comfortable. The staff was exceptional. I would particularly like to mention Lelise and Sabi who welcomed us everyday cheerfully and solved all our queries immediately as well as the Assistant Manager Abdul who took a generous time off his schedule to give us a list of interesting places to dine at. The stay was overall comfortable and I would definitely choose Melrose the next time I am at Georgetown.
