Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Didn't tell us how switched lights off had no switch. Room, very tired and outdated. Did seem very friendly at the first meeting.

It was a warm day and the room had no A/C. Fortunately the windows opened well but the street noise as cars clanged over a metal road plate was loud (I recognize the hotel has no control over that). An interrupted night’s sleep before running a half marathon was not ideal.

Stairs!! I realize it’s an older hotel however, it is difficult for a senior carrying luggage to navigate the stairs. Especially if you get a room in the historical part of the hotel. Love the location! It’s close to everything!!

Staff was not particularly friendly. To reach oldest rooms you must take elevator and walk through cross connection.

We did not like that the rooms did not have any air conditioning, our room was so hot even with the windows open! We know it's an old hotel but the carpets looked like they had never been steam-cleaned, yikes. Our room faced the main street and it was SO loud! Did not work out with an infant who wakes up to everything.
Being in walking distance to everything in downtown Monterey was so convenient! The staff were wonderful, any time we needed something they were there to help. The bed was very comfortable.

Parking was tricky. We had to drive around the block a few times to find a spot to unload our suitcases. Jacuzzi wasn't working.
Very comfortable beds. Location was great. We walked about a bock to the wharf and had a fantastic seafood meal and watched the sea lions. Staff was friendly and gave us directions and coupons.

We did not care for the day staff on Friday and Saturday. we had some issues with a Door Dash delivery and they were a little shifty about the situation making us wonder what really happened to our delivery??? My husband and daughter tried to surprise me with flowers and champagne which apparently never arrived. They had cameras but said we could have them reviewed unless we went through the police, and they didn’t even admit they knew about the delivery until we called our daughter in front of them then their story changed. The bed was not comfy for me and the pillows were kind of hard. The toilet paper roll holder broke the first time I used it.
The Location was great! So much in that area, restaurants, ice cream shop, shopping and just 2 blocks from the Wharf. Our room was clean and some of the staff were great. The room had a nice fireplace! Very close to the bicycle trails. The coffee pods they provided were actually really good!

No housekeeping service, no free parking (parking garage down the block charges bt 9am and 6pm).
Grat location in downtown walking distance to many restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, Walgreens, Old fisherman's wharf, Monterey state park. Short drive to Cannery Row. Monterey trolley to Cannery Row stops nearby.

Internet was too bad, we were on a business trip and had to take calls and connectivity was really bad. Lack of facilities for 2 persons to take calls (only one chair). The room was pretty small. No parking. No fridge.
Location is great, just in the center. The historical building with nice furniture.
