It was slow on the reception and we didn’t get enough information. I understand that the lady could have the bad day so it’s fine! But be positive would be nice.

    The bathrooms, nice place.

I love the vibe of this hostel, very different to others I’ve experienced in the past! I loved the bathrooms - felt like home! Mattress are very comfortable too. Free pancakes everyday for brekkie!

My main issue with the hostel is the bathroom situation. There are 6 private bathrooms each with a toilet, sink, and shower, so if anyone is using one of those things, they prevent someone from using the others. Every morning and every evening people will wait with their things in the hallways to take a shower. The code locks on the doors are obnoxiously loud and wake people up in the room. The rooms are pretty cramped, the beds are close together, and there are very few places to put things close to your bed. The parking situation is pretty rough: there are a few parking spots you can pay for, but it's pretty limited, otherwise you will have to park in the 2-hour street parking (only enforced between 8 am and 6 pm). So you either need to be away from the hostel for those hours or go move your car every 2 hours. That being said, I always found a spot pretty close to the hostel. There are quite a few homeless people around, which unfortunately is the norm for Maui. I never felt in danger, but I would not leave anything in your car.

The rooms and the bathrooms are kept very clean. Each bathroom is decorated a bit differently. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The reception desk is open 24-hours. Linens, blankets, towels, shampoo/conditioner, and soap are all provided. The location is in the centre of Maui not far from a few restaurants. The scheduled activities are a great way to meet people and are free (besides a suggested tip). The doors use codes which can prevent you from being locked out.

I realize its run by volunteers but there were a lot of questions that could not be answered so maybe just a little more training for the people running the front desk. and big people need big ladders for the bunk beds!!

When I finally arrived I walked up to the door and they were singing Take me home West Virginia by John Denver...I am from WV so it made me feel very comfortable and excited to come in! It is an amazing hostel, this was my firtst time in one. My key code never worked for the front door so that was very frustrating since people (I wasn't the only one) were not able to get in until someone happened to come out. The room was fine although Im a big girl with a knee injury so climbing on a top bunk was very inconvenient. the ladder could be a little bigger since we are adults not tiny kiddos. all the amenities they offered were amazing I am sorry I did not have the time to hang out more and meet more people. It was an awesome overall experience and I hope I can try again someday

It was small and just missing a few things like a little bench to put your stuff on. A place for your towels and clothes. In the shower more space for your stuff to put down like a bench.

It was a good place for one night. I had a private room for 2 persons. It was good!

The rooms themselves are a tad hit or miss, we had two bunks in a four bunk room. Can be noisy and temperature is highly variable based on usage of the fan or AC - I found it rather cold both nights. They only give you a small sheet and a pillow that doesn't really stack up to other accommodations on the island. For a tall person the bunks will be too small for you, I slept in a curl for our stay there.

Really enjoyed the communal aspects of the hostel, they do have free pancake breakfast and the daily scheduled trip. We didn't actually join a scheduled trip but the big open lobby allowed for easy group making. The price of the hostel is quite good in comparison to the other options on the island. Also quite close to a good selection of food and necessities. Parking is relatively easy to find.

Although the trips are fun and free there are limited spots. The van can only take up to 14 people and popular activities like the Road to Hanā are very difficult to get on. Often other people staying at Howzit will have a car and share a ride. But keep in mind that in the price you pay for the hostel an activity is not guaranteed.

Really nice and well equipped kitchen as well as a great common area (inside and backyard). There are quite a few individual bathrooms so waiting times are limited. There is also a female only bathroom. The hostel offers great activities that are included in the price and make it really fun to explore the island. They also offer fun evening activities like beer pong or barbecues. If you‘re looking for a very quite hostel this one probably isn‘t for you.

No locker in the bedroom, nothing to put our phone/book/charger if you’re in the top bed (a small shelf would be convenient)

We raised the average by about 40 years. It’s a hostel for young people but people were friendly.

It was clean and the staff were friendly. As an affordable overnight stay near the airport after a very long flight, it was just what we needed.

A Gem in the Heart of the City - Wonderful Stay!Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review:I recently stayed at Howzit Hostel, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm welcome by the staff made me feel right at home. Location: The hostel is conveniently located in the heart of the city, making it super easy to explore the local sights. Cleanliness: The facilities were spotlessly clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job maintaining the rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Amenities: They offer great amenities, including free Wi-Fi, a cozy lounge area, and a fully equipped kitchen. The free city maps and helpful travel tips from the staff were incredibly useful for planning my daily adventures. Social Atmosphere: One of the highlights was the hostel's social vibe. They organized nightly events, which were a great way to meet fellow travelers. Rooms: I stayed in an 8bed dorm, which was spacious and comfortable. The beds were cozy, and each had its own light and charging port, which is always appreciated. Staff: The staff deserve a special mention for their friendliness and helpfulness. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a pleasant stay, offering assistance and recommendations whenever needed. Overall: Howzit Hostels l offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and a friendly atmosphere. It's an excellent choice for travelers looking for a budget-friendly, sociable, and welcoming place to stay. I'll definitely be back on my next trip and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

Parking first come first serve. Although I didn’t have a problem finding street parking at night, I didn’t love that it was an added stress

This property seemed like it ran really well for a hostel. I was only there a short time, but the activity board seemed like a cool idea. I had a private room which made it more expensive, but it was nice
