Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe heating unit was a bit noisy but that was ok.
It is a historic building where you can find lots of small details. The staff is very helpful and they go out of their way to make you comfortable.

United States of AmericaAll good.
Nice location - walkable distance to excellent restaurants/patiserries, bus stations, and the cable car. Unusually pleasant common room area. Friendly staff. Large room with a table large enough for two people working or eating.

United States of AmericaBreakfast time was too short. A half hour longer would be good. The spaces and rooms were clean but in need of fresh paint.
The breakfast was well rounded and better than most hotels. You could have a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, waffles, or cereal, yogurt and some fruit. Pastries, bagels and English muffins were also available.

SingaporeI thought that there would be a fridge but there isn't, but definitely not a dealbreaker!
Breakfast was provided and it was nice! I do wish that there could be a change in menu everyday. Free cookies, coffee and tea was provided 24/7 too. Staff was always friendly and helpful! The heater in the room was strong and I loved it!

United KingdomIt took a long time and mentions to three different staff for a light bulb to be replaced ! Most of the prints / pictures on the walls were from an earlier period than the 1890 hotel, but were still attractive.
We enjoyed the large lounge with coffee and tea always avaiiable and the afternoon cookies and sherry. There were plenty of good chairs and sofas and gas fires on. The staff were always helpful and pleasant to deal with. We loved the Victorian decor and furniture throughout.

United States of AmericaThe bed was not very comfortable. Lot of processed food at breakfast and not a lot of health options.
The hotel is a very nice building, and the entire hotel is elegantly decorated with a Victorian style. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they let us use the living room area of the hotel after we checked out and until it was time for us to go to the airport. The room was spacious and clean. We loved the cookies and cherry in the afternoon!

IrelandThe breakfast was terrible. The coffee was awful. The croissants were stale. I expected a better breakfast given the expensive room rate.
The hotel is in a good location with very spacious residents lounges. The bedroom was a good size with a small bathroom.

United States of AmericaThe only thing I didn't like was that I didn't have more time to stay here longer.
This hotel is amazing with so much character and loaded with antiques on every floor. The staff was great, breakfast was fulfilling, room was great, bed was so comfortable. It was decorated so well for Christmas, so it really put you in the mood for the season. Be sure you sit by one of the two fireplaces downstairs with a cup of tea to take in the feeling of the hotel. The cookies in the afternoon were delicious. You'll love riding on the elevator. I would stay here again in an instant if I'm back in the city again. It is near the end of the California trolley line, so you can get to Chinatown or other parts of the city.
