The heating for some reason is very loud - it seems that the boiler is located near the bed. The breakfast is very confusing. It is included, but you have to get a voucher from the reception first with your name on it and not many receptionists understand or know about this arrangement! I only met the right one after two enquiries. Also they set up the key in the wrong way on our first night.

Location is good. Nice atmosphere in the lobby area. The on site restaurant Kirei is really good value for money during happy hours.

1) An email offering online pre-check-in sounded like a good idea, so I submitted all my info. When I reached the desk, none of the info seemed to be available. So ... I saved no time. 2) I've stayed at the Whitehall maybe two dozen times over the years. Until this visit, I was never made to wait if I arrived 20-30 minutes early. Not a huge deal, but another disappointment. 3) I always enjoy eating breakfast with coffee at this hotel and frequently ask for a coffee to go once I've finished. In the past, I was never charged for it. But this time I was.

1) Dependably clean and quiet room with comfortable bed. 2) Friendly staff, both at desk and in restaurant.

The staff was helpful but could smile a bit more. There could be a coffee machine or at least a kettle in the room. The cleaning staff or perhaps some guests started talking in the hallway at 4am so it was quite early for me to start the day.

The bed was very comfortable. There was a t-shirt on the floor behind our sofa from the previous clients so obviously nobody cleaned the floor since then. The room was a bit smelly (from smoke, I guess). The location was just perfect for the tourist purpose.

Our shower had leaked downstairs so security came up late to check what was going on. Our bathroom wasn’t very clean. And the shower handle bar was basically broken.

Bathroom could use an update. A few small tiles were missing from back of toilet wall and there was a little black mold around tub. It just needed re caulking.

The amenities could have been better. Suggestions: only mirror is in the bathroom (need one in the main room); no ice bucket and no ice except to call downstairs; ONE GLASS in the whole room (had to call for more -- we were two people in the room); the refrigerator was not working; need grab bars in the bathroom; magnifying mirror in bathroom WAY too high; toilet WAY too low; no coffee in the room (come on!! everybody is doing that); room very dark (had to request an extra lamp.

The receptionist was very rude and sloppy, it gives the hotel a bad impression, when you first walk in. The hotel could greatly improve by providing a coffee machine, this is now standard in most hotels

great location, rooms are spacious, bed comfortable with good quality clean linen. Similarly the bathroom has a very good shower, nice fluffy towels. The hotel provides a high-end shower gel, shampoo and conditioner kit. Much appreciated, the spacious safety box in the room. THe hotel is old, a classic Chicago style building, but has a nice patina and it is not run down

Excellent Location, big shout out to the employee working the door, an absolute gentleman. Bed was comfortable, room was also very spacious. Heating worked quite quick too which was helpful during the cold weather.

The hotel is operating with a very limited staff and few of the amenities (coffee in the lobby, room service, daily maid service, etc.) that people might expect to find at more expensive hotels. This was reflected in the lower-than-usual pricing for this hotel, and we were very happy to go without those amenities in exchange for the very reasonable rate that we paid.

We appreciated our very clean, large enough, well decorated room and the friendly and helpful staff members.
