Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt appears that much of the island is short staffed so expect a delay in getting your room. All restaurants are booked so reservations are a must but actually connecting with a restaurant (not on property) is difficult. Thankfully the restaurants on property are good - just make reservations before you arrive.
The setting is beautiful. The beach and grounds are great. The view from any room or restaurant is memorable. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the near perfect weather conditions.

United States of AmericaWe reserved one of the deluxe oceanfront rooms which was fairly expensive and I have to say we were disappointed. The room was dark even with every light on. The view was more of the pool than the ocean and 2 beach recliners for the outside seating. The only towel rack in the bathroom is on the opposite wall from the shower so u have to walk across the room to get your towel or I guess lay it on the floor.. a hook right by the shower would be a very inexpensive fix. The shower is a small tub/ shower combo, I really expected more for this price point. The tv channels are very limited especially since half of them have a loud buzzing noise and no Netflix app. The toilet had to be flushed at least twice to work. Our first night the a/c was so noisy we couldn’t sleep so they were very helpful and upgraded us to another room. I wish they had tables at the beach to put your drinks on. The included breakfast was nice but food just ok.
The location is great and the property very nice and well maintained . Nice beaches that were raked daily and Clear water for snorkeling. The staff is very friendly and willing to help.

United States of AmericaMany of the staff need basic service training. Food and beverage usually took 30 or more minutes to arrive and there was almost no followup. The GM seemed lost and not in control. Usually tough to get a cocktail. Food was 5-star price and 3-star quality.
The rooms in the main house, the view, the property. Food and beverage manager and one waiter were attentive. On-property transportation was great, especially drivers. Golf course was good, despite dry conditions and consistent winds.

The location was beautiful, private and quiet. It was our first trip without our deceased son. We honored his birthday while in St. Croix. The staff and accommodations at The Buccaneer were amazing.

United States of AmericaThe back door of my room had to be forced open and the molding broke. The staff promptly fixed it.
Beautiful beach front however being on a tropical island I would expect to see lush gardens everywhere for that is typical on every other tropical resort that I had visited in the past. Here there was plenty of weeds and the grass on the property was brown from lack of water.

United States of AmericaThey were under staffed so things like food/drinks took longer than usual and some locations (Grotto) weren’t open at all. We were also given the wrong category of room.
The beaches are gorgeous, the grotto pool is very nice. The food was decent and the staff was fairly friendly. it wasn’t overcrowded either.

United States Minor Outlying IslandsOnly one of their restaurants was open. They clearly did not have a handle on dinner service at all. when a reservation was made at times they took as long as an hour beyond the scheduled time to seat you. Food was very expensive. I don’t mind paying as long as the service and food quality match the price. It did not. The complimentary breakfast buffet was fair. However with only one restaurant available on-site with very high prices and a major ordeal to be seated we felt a bit of food insecurity as the property is a car ride to any other alternatives offsite. Highly recommend renting a car if you stay here. Other then that it is truly spectacular.
beautiful location. comfortable accommodations.

United States of AmericaThe pillows on the bed were very thin and uncomfortable and our toilet leaked onto the floor the first few days. The food at the restaurants (Beauregards and Mermaid) was very overpriced and took forever, I recommend eating elsewhere on the island. Everything at the hotel closes too early, the restaurants stop serving at 8 and the live music on the Terrace was over by 9pm every night.
The 3 beaches were amazing, some of the best on the island. We loved walking to Whistle Beach, we had the whole beach to ourselves. The snorkeling at Grotto Beach and Mermaid Beach was better than some of the other beaches we went to in Fredrickstead. I really enjoyed the view of Grotto Beach from our room and the convenience of our room's location. The breakfast buffet was great, we enjoyed it everyday, Delma and Pat were great servers. The service at Beauregards Bar was great from Ken the bartender. And we enjoyed going to get drinks from Patrice at the Terrace Bar at night. The overall vibe of the resort was peaceful and quiet, perfect for what we were looking for.

United States of AmericaThe room was pretty basic compared to the price we paid and we were put at the top of the hill which made it pretty tiring to go back and forth from the beach. The problems have been mostly with the staff - excluding few special mentions above we have encountered pretty rude staff. One day we had to wait over 1.5hrs for a burger at the mermaid and no-one cared about it (we politely asked about delays and the answer was: you are in paradise, just chill). Or another time we called for a cab in Christiansed that arrived over 1 hour later and when calling the front desk (I am a girl and waiting in the middle of the street at 9pm is not super reccomended) the guy at the front desk told me the cab will eventually come to stop calling and hang up on me. In summary: the place is great but a bit more of customer service is needed given the 4stars and over $5k we paid to stay there (used to 4 and 5 starts hotel this was the first time it seemed they were doing me a favor ahah).
The property is amazing and one of the best places we have seen on the island. Few special mentions of the staff > Lea from the front desk, Vicki from the Spa, Andreas as the manager of the property.
