How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The stay at Piesang Valley Lodge was wonderful. John was a great and kind host and we felt very welcome. The bungalows were exceptionally beautiful and comfortable and the garden and pool was an oasis.

The view across the valley down to Beacon Island is just amazing. The location is tranquil, just green all around you. It's not fancy, but it is perfect. Everything in Plett is literally 5 minutes drive max

We really enjoyed our stay in the lodge. Everything was perfect: from the location, to the rooms with a great view across with the bay and the pool. The room was equipped with everything needed. John is a wonderful host who provided a lot of tipps what to do in the area including great recommendation for restaurants.

We loved the warm welcome from John , our host. He was so enthusiastic and full of tips where to go to , where to hike, where to eat, The whole family liked this and got enthusiastic too to get all out of this 2 days stay. We did a wonderful hike on Robberg, The 2nd day we went into Tsitsikamma National Park and walked over the Suspension bridge, what a great nature here !! In the afternoon we went to Nature's Valley and had a great lunch and a beach visit. Again overwhelming nature here!! We had lovely diners at The fat Fisch and Enrico in Plett; great places to eat and to see the South Africans celebrating their holidays. Great Sunset at Enrico's . We loved this place !!! Thanks John for all the great tips and ideas, this made our stay here unforgettable ! Big thank you as well for the nice breakfast and hospitality !!

We were out of electricity in our rooms one morning, but if was directly fixed, after we pointed it out.
John is a great host and made as feel like home with his warm welcome and his cute dogs. It was a lovely stay in the beautiful garden lodges in a calm environment. The breakfast was also really good.

Had a hard time finding it. First, Google Maps is not accurate and took us to the wrong place. Then the sign is not easy to find. Property should give coordinates in their description or otherwise travelers are confused and frustrated.
Beautiful view, great location, lovely breakfast and room. Appreciated John’s tourism support. Friendly and accommodating staff.
