Photos from Booking create misunderstanding. i mean they offer many different rooms and all rooms have the same photos, so you cannot be sure that you will get the room which you chose on booking.

    Great breakfast.

In all honesty, not much more one can add. The value for money was great. One could always suggest multiple bells and whistles in the room but simple as it was, had all we needed.

The checkin process was great, and the lady at reception showed us to out room. A very clean setup that was comfortable for our overnight stay. The breakfast included in the price was fantastic and very enjoyable.

Shared toilet and shower was an issue - I don't have an issue sharing but we had quite a wait some mornings and on one morning there was no water! We had to walk round the building looking for a vacant toilet and shower at times. There was very little space in kitchen to store any food. Would have liked a cafetiere in kitchen to make coffee.

Location excellent proximity to Kloof Street area ( many lovely bars and restaurants)and for accessing City Centre.Felt safe there at night. Hostel is busy but plenty of quiet areas to relax in garden and around the hostel. The Hostel is a beautiful older property which has lovely decor and lots of plants. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was large and comfortable - actually very quiet despite there being dorms near us. I had requested two single beds but room had a huge double. It was fine though. Breakfast was satisfactory - pastries, toast, boiled eggs etc. There was a kitchen that we could use but it was too busy so we ate out most evenings. Kitchen well equipped. Nice bar and central seating area.

Our particular room did not have great natural cross ventilation, but had a great pedestal fan to keep us comfortable in warm weather conditions.

    Nothing, amazing stay

Great vibe, best bunk beds compared to the other 3 hostels I stayed at since it has blinds, so I could have more privacy, like a little room inside the room. They organised a great pool party with Braai that was open to the public, and another night of amazing music.

I've already written about the lovely stay, but keep your insect spray handy as I was stung several times by a poisonous spider as our window faced the garden. Otherwise, a wonderful stay with a clean, tidy room , friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

No (working) airco and from 22-24.00 no electricity on some days.

Nice setting with good breakfast and friendly personal. A little bit hippy. If you leave anything in the common/general fridge consider it gone. 😜

This is my second time staying at Villa Viva- even better as I ad a ladies dorm with 4 real beds, not bunkbeds, as well as an attached bathroom, which looked new - very nice! Not to worry, the bunkbeds had curtains for privacy, but I really enjoyed the ladies dorm. Breakfast is amazing, too. Only if you want to buy a real coffee, otherwise powdered coffee, teabags and milk are included.

The road is a bit awkward by night. Not ideal to walk, even if it is a couple of meters from a very busy area.

The staff was super friendly. The building was nice, an old house with many different areas. Clean with a nice café and garden.
