My stay in this belle epoque villa was the best in Austria! The staff was outstanding, the food as well (highly recommend having half-board), and the furniture and ambiance were refreshingly old-fashioned (the villa's motto). The shuttle to/from the train station/ski area was very useful. Moreover, unlike most ski resorts (which offer mainly ski), there is so much more to do in Bad Gastein. I will gladly be back in Villa Excelsior and Bad Gastein!

The hosts are extremely kind and attentive to their guests. They work hard on their farm. However, in addition to that, they were available to us at any moment. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. The apartments are equipped with all necessary appliances and kitchen utensils. The facility is a few minutes' drive from several ski resorts. We enjoyed all seven days.

Our room had a beautiful view of snow capped mountains and the Bad Gastein Valley. We had freshly picked lettuces for our dinner and kind, friendly staff, including the owner’s family. We were picked up at the train station by Peter, the owner’s son, who also was our bartender in the evening. This a health spa, so try the Radon bath and the small group exercise class. I could hear birds singing all day in this precious spot with opportunity to ride a gondola to the top of nearby mountain for lunch surrounded by rugged Alpine peaks. This is a heavenly spot - a little isolated - so get the half board package and enjoy breakfast and dinner where the healthy menu changes daily.
