Really great place to stay, gorgeous local area. The room I had in the courtyard was exceptional, cosy but enough space. Decent comfy bed, powerful shower and so quiet you cannot hear any other guests. The breakfast was delicious and I also had an evening meal there too which was superb. There were a few of us staying with our dogs and they made us feel very welcome. Would definitely book again!

The Morritt Hotel is Teesdale’s hidden treasure, just off the A66, some 9 miles west of Scotch Corner. This 17th century former coaching inn offers a warm welcome to everyone, whether for business or pleasure. In the winter you will be greeted by our roaring log fire in the lounge, while in summer you can relax with a drink in our well-tended gardens.

Very helpful staff, lovely traditional setting. Food was amazing with great service. Will definitely be back again.

Great breakfast, great location, lovely spacious room - we got a free upgrade which was a nice surprise. The customer service was outstanding!!! Everyone was really friendly and very attentive - especially the night porter and the lovely waitress who looked after us during breakfast, she even remembered our food and drink order the next day. Would 100% stay again!

In general terms, it was reasonably comfortable. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and more up to date than rest of the hotel. The gardens were lovely to relax in and the general location was good, with easy access to places of interest. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful - a credit to the company, in fact. The majority of the meals we had were tasty, well cooked and nicely presented.

Sue and Chris lovely hosts. The scenic views, hot tub watching the world go by. We actually stayed in the cabin to just relax for a few days. It's central to places. Hour in the car and you can visit many interesting places. Gateshead. Hartlepool, Durham. Many more. Or just enjoy Bernard Castle Town and its history.

Beautiful room and very comfortable bed. Great location and views. Plenty of places to explore in the daytime and then a lovely bar and garden to relax in the evening. Smart TV to watch whilst getting ready in the morning. The bathroom and shower were amazing and the hand wash smelt delightful. Will definitely be back.
