We had such a beautiful, soul-filling stay at the Sarlija family's Plitvica River House. The hotel feels like a home, filled with thoughtful touches throughout. The owners, Ante and Lucy, created such a memorable experience, extending such care and hospitality to our family. They offer a delicious breakfast buffet and a fantastic, three-course, farm-to-table dinner. They even offer a lunch box for guests - this was perfect for our morning/afternoon visit to Plitvice Lakes. Lucy helped us plan our hike around the park, which was so helpful, provided the park's size and busy visitor season. From the house to the Gate 3 (Flora entrance) it is about a 10-15 minute walk. Then, from the gate you have access to the entire park - it was so nice to bypass the crowded Gates 1 & 2. When we visit the area again, we definitely plan to book our stay at the Plitvica River House. I highly recommend staying at this hotel!

If you are looking for the real Croatian experience without compromising on cleanliness and facilities - look no further, this is where you need to go. We have spent two nights at this place, and if we could award 11 points to it, we’d do it. The lodge lies in the heart of Plitvice national park, one of the entrances to the park is just around the corner, so entering the park will be super convenient, just a 5 minute walk away. The lodge has the character of a mountain hut, the rooms are nice, clean and tastefully decorated and absolutely up to the task, there’s nothing that you are going to miss. The owner serves an absolutely delicious self-cooked Croatian style dinner and we absolutely recommend to eat at the lodge, especially in the evening. During dinner, be prepared that the owner will treat you to his self-burnt Schnaps which greatly facilitates starting a conversation with fellow travelers - in no other place in Croatia (we did a 2 week tour) did we meet so many interesting people from all over Europe and North America. As mentioned, the hosts are super friendly and authentically Croatian, it was a great couple of days and we will certainly return.

You can only feel welcomed there. The room was nice and lovely. We liked the way it was made. The house is really close to the National park and has a kind of own entrance which offers you leaving your car there and enjoying the park directly. The hotel also offers some wellness and other activities like archery and has a little zoo. The staff is always taking care about you and your wishes. There are lots of places where you can sit and relax. For allergic people it should be interesting that dogs are allowed in the restaurant and that cats and little kitten are roaming around.

Beautiful tranquil spot near entrance 3 that avoids all the crowds. The loop from there is best started with the walk & finish with the boat back. Lovely outside restaurant/ bar with super friendly staff & food v good. Room just perfect 👍

It is very close to the entrance 1 of the Plitvice lakes, the reception is at the restaurant in front of the property, the receptionist and all the stuff were very nice and willing to help you with what you needed. They serve a very good buffet breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was also very good. The room was very comfortable and clean, I really enjoyed my stay there.

The rooms are maintained and cleaned in an exemplary manner, the linen was immaculate, I don’t think I have ever seen any place cleaner than this. Both rooms are on the first floor and it is worth asking for the room with the balcony if you plan to use it. Also note that use of air-conditioning is +3€ per day. We did not have breakfast as we left for the lakes at 6:45, so cannot comment on it. The location is a 10’ easy walk from Entrance 1 of the Plitvice lakes, so extremely practical, and there are shops for food, drinks etc within 5’ by car. There is parking in the property, just below the balcony. At night it was super quiet. A brilliant choice as à base to explore the lakes.

Located in the countryside close to the Plitvice national park. The host Ana was outstanding. Kind, service-minded and took great pride in taking care of the guests. Good breakfast, comfortable bed and parking close to the house.

Great location close to Plitvice Lakes. Beautiful village feel with good views from the balcony. Friendly service. Breakfast was amazing and generous. We also enjoyed the dinner as well!!
