This was a luxurious treat and we all enjoyed it from the welcome by the general manager, the hot spring bath, the food, the room. One of our group had a massage which was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was an amazing buffet of Japanese and Western dishes. The hotel provided transport by shuttle bus to and from the hotel. Communications via booking.com worked well.

All accommodations have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and Japanese futon bedding. Amenities include air conditioning and an LCD TV, while some rooms have a fridge and an attached bathroom. Yukata robes are provided.

A real discovery: Mihonoseki is a special place, a fishermen's village away from everything and still quite convenient to reach. I stayed at one of the Fukumakan annex houses. A beautiful old Japanese house, perfectly maintained with all conforts one might need. Lovely views of the port from the first floor. Breakfast and dinner are also a special treat in Japanese fish cuisine. Highly recommended

Really enjoyed how every where in the hotel was tatami floored. It was so nice not to wear shoes around for a change. The spa was amazing, and I enjoyed the free ice cream and the massage chairs after the onsen too.

Great location just opposite the station. Convenience store just next to the hotel as well. Staffs are very very helpful and friendly. My friend left her scarf at an Onsen Ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen and a staff called them for us to check if they found a scarf. When we asked a nice cafe near the hotel, she copied a map and circled the cafe on the map and gave the map to me. The staffs went the extra miles to help us. Big bath is also very nice although it's an artificial Onsen.

A very great Japanese experience with Tatami mats throughout the hotel. The rooms are small but functional and the onsen is great. It's a short walk to the Castle which is a must see in Matsue. The breakfast was a highlight. Such an incredible selection and quality of food was outstanding. in keeping with the hotel, it is very traditional Japanese fair so do not expect Western options.

Very tasteful Japanese-style outdoor and indoor Complimentary water bottles and juice in the room, beverage service in lobby at some hours, and ice cream at onsen. Ryokan style service: first cleaning of the wheels of suitcase, putting of shoes and walking through entire interior of hotel in socks on tatami floor. Very nice onsen (in and outdoor) with massage chairs. Beautiful tatami mat style room with modern touch, bigger bathroom than usual.

The breakfast was definitely worth paying extra for, and the rooftop onsen was fantastic. They also had a very nice sauna that kept a stable 92 degrees celsius and a cold water bath that I really appreciated. Upon entering the hotel, all guests had to remove their shoes, and walking around barefoot or wearing only socks felt really nice on the tatami mats covering the floor around the entire hotel.

Rooms are big with wide tatami area. Very nice view to the lake and by paying 500 JPY you can use the sister hotel (Chorakuen Ryokan & Onsen), which has one of the biggest outside onsen in Japan. There is even a free shuttle bus (once per hour).
