About 500 metres from JR Koiwa Train Station, Ryokan Fuji offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami floors, futon bedding and shoji paper screens. Free in-room broadband internet is provided.

I had a lovely stay in a traditional Japanese room. Normal western hotels are boring, you're in Japan after all. The host speaks some English (which really is not a given here at all) and he was very friendly. The futon was comfortable and I had no back problems at all. It's 20-35 minutes away by train from the major attractions, but for the price I'm not complaining. The train station is 5 minutes away anyway, so it wasn't even a problem.

Great location. Staff was polite. Everything worked as it should, easy Check-in and check out. Able to store luggage before and after however unable to early check in as it costs 1000yen per hour. Amenities were great with tooth brush, face towel, slippers, yukata and in room humidifiers etc. The onsen was delightful with 1 large indoor pool and 2 smaller ceramic outdoor single/dual user baths. It got busy but not overwhelmingly so.

We really enjoyed the traditional style of the room, we slept in futons and the room was lined with tatami, which was lovely. There was a working air conditioner, a small TV, and slippers. Quite limited ammenities but workable. We had an ensuite (toilet), but had to share the shower with a few rooms, which was fine as the shower was right next door. There were other shared toilets throughout the hotel. About a 15 minute walk from Shibuya Station. Hot water and water refill were available downstairs.

The ryokan is centrally located in Ueno and convenient for the University of Tokyo. It's a ryokan, so you get a low futon and tatami mats on the floor. They also provide you with a yukata to wear indoors. The owners are lovely, and arranged a late check-in for me without any difficulty. It is excellent value for the price.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. Everything was clean and well maintained. Rooms are clean with lovely tatami floors however they are quite small but that is common in Tokyo. Sleeping on the futons with my family was a nice experience but after 4 nights I was happy to get back into a western bed. overall good value for money. Location is short walk to iriya train station which makes it easy to go off anywhere on the subway. I would recommend this spot to friends
