I stayed in Barry for 3 nights. I was visiting Wales for the Six Nations at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. There are plenty of hotels in Cardiff, but the prices were all excessive because of the Rugby event. Barry is nearby, a short, 4 quid train ride away from Cardiff Central which is pretty much the center of action, to include a short walk to the stadium.
Barry itself was a nice, quiet detour away from the Capitol city. I enjoyed a few restaurants and bars while staying in this small town.
I did not rent a car. Walked everywhere I needed within Barry.

Clean hotel room, lacking many amenities,No change of towels for 4days. Very cold, fobbed off by a lady staff member with... There's nothing wrong with the heating?? Yet it was freezing most of our stay.As for disabled catered for... No safety rails in the bathroom/ shower,, disheveled room..IE.. The curtains were hanging off to which I had to constantly put back up. Not a HOTEL to stay at again.

Barry is a wonderful relaxing family friendly place with friendly people, beautiful seaside and a lovely food. The price for everything is much lower than in London. I was shocked when I payed £3.50 for a glass of a nice red wine in a pub :)

Oh dear, thankfully stopped in a village outside Barry and just called in to look at the sea, wish I hadnt bothered. First visited Barry some 30 years ago, not changed, still run down and depressing. Most of the surrounding architecture derelict, not a good look at all, my advise if visiting Barry, (I am talking about the sea front and beach here) is dont bother

Barry is an interesting town and seaside resort which seems to have successfully reinvented itself from its industrial past. Easy access to other parts of South Wales. The flat is located in the modern housing development around the old docks. A great improvement on the derelict area I knew years ago.
Located about a 10 minute walk from the Barry Train Station, which is very accessible to nearby CARDIFF.
I liked the dine and drink options in Barry. Several options within the Goodstay compound. And downtown Barry is loaded with pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance.
My main reason for staying here was to watch the Rugby Six Nations at Principality Stadium...but the lodging costs in Cardiff were excessive. Goodstay Lodges worked out really, really well, for the most part.
Excellent couple retreat.Comfortable bed.Smart tv.Large space.Connect phone music to speakers in flat .Rainfall shower.Modern .Fully equipped kitchen. If you did not want to cook plenty of restaurants steps away from the Good Shed complex and the high street .Walking distance to the beach in Barry island, bus stop and Barry railway station ( 25 minutes to Cardiff centre).Perfect weather.
The breakfast room is accessible at all hours with all the supplies you need when you arrive for a snack or if leaving early morning. That was great. A quick taxi ride to Cardiff Airport for early morning flights. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The owner and her family who live on the premises were very welcoming when we arrived.
Reasonably close to Cardiff but the quiet village location is delightful. Next door to a really intersting historic church.
The owners and staff all very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast and evening meal were delicious.
The back story of the ownership of this pub is very uplifting and you get a real sense of community here.
The location was great, a very warm welcome and beautiful rooms, very clean and comfortable.
We only stayed one night but would 100% recommend and will be returning.
Location is great for Barry Island and all the Gavin and stacey fans with Gwens House being walking distance.
It is a must to book.
Hotel was a great location, rooms were bright comfortable and clean, staff were helpful and friendly especially the young blonde lady on reception, really handy tips from her where to eat etc, no complaints at all.. If we decide to revisit Barry this would be definately where we book again!
The hotel is 5 min cab ride to the airport. The porter, Mike, was a GREAT help to me as I had loads of bags from my work. The reception was kind enough to change my room to the ground floor because they have no elevator. The room was very clean.
Nice quiet location. Easy parking. Comfortable bed. Every convenience in the flat you have at home and then some. Spotless clean and the host checked to see if you were happy. It didn’t hurt that everyone in Barry was so friendly as well.
Check in was quick and problem free. The staff are excellent and the room was huge, clean, warm and cozy. Free parking is a bonus. The hotel is located in an excellent spot for getting into Barry within 10 minutes and cardiff within 20.
The breakfast was really tasty and presented hot and timely. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location was good as it was far enough away from noise and close to train station. We were able to visit Cardiff easily.
The location was beautiful in the middle of the countryside, great base for Barry Island (5 mins drive) and Cardiff (15mins). Staff are very welcoming, plenty of seating areas and the food was homemade and delicious!
The location was great 5-10 mins walk to the beach and Barry island. The hotel was very clean and very quiet so we slept really well. The breakfast was also lovely.
I stay here each time I visit Barry once a month I’ve had two different rooms a family room and a standard double both where great value for money and comfortable
