Totnes is a beautiful town, very quirky and lots of interesting back streets to explore with cobbled paving and gorgeous old buildings. The main street is very special and full of lovely little independent gift shops, cafes etc. I have been here several times over the years and am always keen to return.

We liked the facilities in the town including the quirky cafe/cinema, The hotel was right next to the bus station and well connected by bus with the railway station, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Plymouth and Newton Abbott. Good market on Fridays and Saturdays. River Trips to Dartmouth and Steam Trains to Buckfastleigh. Good shops including an award winning butcher's

Totnes is a lovely place to visit for a short stay or mini break. We loved the variety of shops in the town which had a lovely vibe. The weekend market was fantastic! We also loved the sustainability factor! Being on the river meant there were also lots of lovely places to explore as well as the opportunity to take a delightful boat trip to Dartmouth! Totnes makes a great base from which to explore other areas like aTorquay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. There are good transport links so if you don’t drive, it’s not an issue! Would definitely visit Totnes again! :-)

Totnes is one of those places that once visited you know you will return to. It's located on a river that creates a sense of horizontal flow at the bottom of the town. Crossing the bridge towards the town centre, looking up, you may feel a little faint that the main shopping street requires quite a hike to the top of the street. But don't be larmed1 The way to do it is to zig-zag, lacing from one interesting shop to the next. Especially, explore the numerous charity shops for branded shirts and leather jackets presumably gifted by upmarket locals. When you finally get towards the top of the street you will find lovely cafes and restaurants serving delicious local foods. We decided to take away delicious vegetarian food from Seeds, and sit in the little green park, just off the nearby square.

Only visited the Steamer Quay.
Only visited the Steamer Quay. The parking payment options were crap and not working causing a backlog. The Cafe next to the Booking office was excellent and the Boss allowed me to park as I could not obtain a Parking Ticket. The Dartmouth Boat trip is good.

A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days.
A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days. Lots of outdoor possibilities, fresh air, good food and friendly people. Local bicycle rental would be nice. Totnes is also a kind of place where a language school for adults might be a success.
Great place to stay just outside Totnes. Staverton is in beautiful countryside with amazing walks down to the river Dart and into the Dartington Estate. room was good with a fab bathroom with a freestanding bath. The bar area and restaurant were spacious and cozy and all of the food we had was excellent. Best of all we’re the staff, particularly Charlotte and Victoria, who provided the very best service making us and our dog Lola very welcome. A great place.
It had everything we needed for our 3 night stay to visit family/friends. Very clean and you felt welcome as soon as you entered the cosy annexe . Parking outside the front door and a 5 minute walk into Totnes. We took our I pad so we didn’t miss a tv at all -in fact it was refreshing. Comfy bed and heating if you needed it. Good little outside space for a coffee/glass of wine -which was included in the little welcome pack -Thanks to Natasha the host .
The hotel is perfectly located at the bottom of Totnes High Street, overlooking the bridge. We were able to park there which was convenient, though plenty of parking is available in the Morrisons car park. Our room was very comfortable, and overlooked the bridge. We were pleased to find that we had a bathtub, as well as a very powerful shower. At the price, we would definitely stay again. We had dinner at the pub which was also very pleasant.
Sophia's home is located in a lovely estate by the river, peaceful and dog friendly. It is definitely colourful, inviting and well equipped. It's only10 min walk to Totnes. This town is different to all others, very vibrant, community orientated end big on environmental values. Lots of attractions nearby and beautiful beaches within short drive...beavare of those single track roads!! We've had a great time there and will definitely be back.
Great location, friendly helpful staff, the most comfortable bed I think I've ever slept in, hot powerful shower with Elemis toiletries and a superb breakfast.
When I first arrived I thought that the interior was a bit tired but don't be put off...a gem of a hotel that is amazing value for money in a great location for seeing the south Devon area. Really dog friendly which was an added bonus.
Beautiful & thoughtfully renovated barn nestled in the South Hams.
Perfect location close to Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge. Spectacular surrounding countryside & smaller villages to explore.
Comfortable, clean, well equipped. Everything in tip-top condition & working order.
Thank you David & Kate for welcoming us & for the fresh flowers and home-baked shortbread on arrival.
The room was lovely, spacious, and calm. The restaurant/pub was lively with locals, yet there was always space for us and our friends. Food was delicious--great pies, tasty fish, satisfying breakfast, and fine beverages (especially the Jail Ale). But the best part was the hosts: always welcoming and kind, flexible and attentive to details.
Lovely location. So much better than a hotel. Quiet at night and only 15 minutes from Totnes, pretty much a straight shot too. Beds were so comfy, great tele, well equipped kitchen, and the third floor bedroom with it’s ensuite is just luxurious. We are coming back.
Loved it . Rooms very clean. Staff and landlord were both very friendly.
beer excellent and do we’re the prices. Rights in the centre of Totnes. Great place to stay . Breakfast very good price and was excellent . I would recommend this place .
Breakfast was amazing. Julie accommodated my needing breakfast a little earlier each day.
A wonderful cozy room, quiet characterful hotel in a convenient location.
Very friendly helpful hosts. I would definitely recommend The Old Forge.
Spotless flat in new development. Great location, short walk to the centre of town. Outside space a bonus and thanks for thoughtful chocs and biscuits! Enjoyed spotting the 'totnes safari' in the neighbourhood!
The bed was the best bed we have ever slept in. The property was hidden away and was separate from the owners house so it felt like your own space. It was very cosy and just overall a pleasant place to be.
Beautiful location and friendly staff, willing to find you information on the local area. Perfect for a getaway with your partner. Our dog loves this place as he was free to roam around the property.
beautiful studio tastefully and artistically decorated. lovely and warm, good facilities, brilliant location in the heart of Totnes with parking. hosts were very helpful and friendly
The ethos is great and the evening staff for dinner were very friendly and helpful
Position of hotel is good surrounded by some of the best shops and restaurants/cafes in Totnes
