I like the ocean view.my kids enjoyed it so much. I was disappointed of food, unlike last year they serve a lot of food in our table during dinner time, compared now, self service and only few menus in there with the same price last year.😔😕

Went to Shimoda mid Sept which was lean season for summer adventure so less people around. It offers good beaches and many water activities. Stayed for a week which gives us relaxing time to enjoy the beach and places to see.

Great town right on the coast, has a number of great beaches nearby and beautiful rocky coastlines and cliffs to see. It is more of a tourist town though, so expect prices of things to be high. Be ready to hear constantly about Commodore Perry and the Black Ships! Some things require you to sign up or buy tickets well in advance; it's worth looking up anything you're interested in trying beforehand to see if it does.
Best coffee we had was at the Hana Cafe, best food was the South Cafe.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama. It's right across the street from a lovely beach and the breakfast was quite nice. We loved the 2 outdoor onsens that are built on the 1F. Great to watch the stars from there amidst the treetops!
The hosts were lovely (spoke english) and it was great to roll into a japanese way of living in the house. Was one of the best parts of my stay in Japan. Lovely beaches and coast nearby. The bus (S30 stand 9 if I recall) leaves from right outside the railway station so it's easy. Bus drops you at the beach a short walk to the property. Buses run regularly around the area and there is a two day bus pass you can get from place next to McDonalds straight outside the railway station.
Very nice house, makes you feel at home immediately. Close to beach and cafes/restaurants (reco Sunny Side and cafe Mellow). Super pool table that guarantees some fun family moments (and nice backup in case of bad weather!) owner very responsive and available for tips. Wish we’d discovered this earlier - would have been our favorite Shimoda spot!
Great location, very near Shirahama beach and the iconic red Torii gate. A cozy place with a home-like atmosphere. It was great to relax at the end of the day in one of the two private and elevated, outdoor onsen baths. The couple that run it are friendly. They prepare a simple, complementary breakfast at a time you wish to have it served.
It's not a beach-front property, but the view is amazing and it's just 10 minutes walk from the nearest (smallish) beach. The room is clean and overall hotel looks well maintained. The staff are nice and friendly.
I have food allergy and the staff really tried to accommodate my needs. I really appreciated that.
The apartment is very open and has plenty of space. It has a great kitchen which we took advantage of and a shower that holds multiple people which is nice. The host is super nice and answered all questions quickly. You can not beat the location in Shimoda and everything is convenient around you.
Shared toilet and bathroom was clean. You can also heat up your food in the microwave, use their water boiling pot and their light up patio was very very nice. The outdoor bathroom was very nice too. Walking distance to shirahama beach. The staff were very friendly too
The view from the room is stunning. Waking up early to admire the sunrise it’s a must here. Shirahama beach is just 2 minutes away(by car). The staff were very attentive and gentle, even with us foreigners(that’s something you don’t see often in Japan).
The location is excellent, as is the property- very close to the beach and excellent food at the hotel if you book in advance. Extremely clean and beautiful views from some rooms. Also good for large groups. Definitely recommend going- multiple times!
Location is prime. Such a close walk to the beach and other coves for snorkeling. Outdoor shower to wash off the sand. Food at the cafe was so convenient and delicious after spending the day at the beach. Private bathroom in the room.
Super close to the beach (walking distance), we were able to store our surfboard on site. Parking on site and free. Onsen on site. Restaurant right next to the hotel. Great living room area to eat and chill in. Would stay again!
Mr. Yamamoto is a fantastic host. He does everything he can to make your accomodation perfect. We enjoyed staying in an authentic room with japanese tatami floor and futons. The view and the closeness to the beach is perfect.
Nice house, very clean room
Friendly staff
Well located, close to a nice beach and close to surfing spot with a terrasse where we could enjoy breakfast
Away from the busy side of Shimoda
Catering available
Stunning ocean views from my room. Excellent breakfast and dinner options. Exceptionally attentive and experienced hotel staff. Lots of scenic walking paths to explore and photograph. Quiet and serene area.
Hotel was in a good location. Public bath (onsen) was nice. Hotel has a lot of facilities which was very convenience (e.g. laundry, onsen). Hotel is near to the restaurants.
