Old, characterful hotel in centre of town (but note that Botchergate = pub street: fine for we two!!! Carlisle we found full of interest for the 1•5 days we were there: castle, river, park and cathedral & vicinity. Turkish restaurant was v good

    We didn't actually venture into Great Corby itself as we stayed at the string of horses, and travelled over the border to Gretna Green and Dumfries, which were within easy reach by car. We also visited Hadrian's wall. A lovely area.
