Safe and good location. Homely atmosphere. Ronaldo, the manager, and the owner took care of all our needs for local travels. He arranged a taxi with a fantastic driver - Fernando who also made sure we visited all the beautiful places in the city. Very good breakfast and decent room to stay. Ideal for non-Portuguese speakers - Ronaldo and Fernando went out of their way to communicate with us using translators apps and never made us feel out of place. Would love to visit again.

Amazing architectural masterpiece in Ouro Preto. The hotel is great to wander around and the views from everywhere across the small city are great. Friendly and helpful staff at reception. Some speak English, some do not, but that doesn’t matter as we always for there in the end. The hotel is incredibly clean. The workers are constantly cleaning and maintaining the hotel. The small swimming pool out front isn’t heated, but it wasn’t too cold, although I didn’t have time for a swim as I was busy exploring. The small apartment I had included a balcony with a stunning view across the city with a bedroom looking over the well kept gardens at the rear. It was great to wake up and listen to the birds and watch the clouds / mist drop over the mountainside. The hotel is close to some great restaurants in town.

It is a beautiful quaint town with good restaurants, beautiful churches and other points of interest. However, walking was a challenge as it is hilly with cobblestone or rock streets. With tennis shoes, or good walking shoes it is no problem. the people were very friendly and helpful.
We ate one night at Bene de Flat--excellent and the second night at the gastropub.very good and they played great music from the 70's.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value.
Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value. I've learned a lot about Brazil's history by a city tour in a "Jardineira". We walked around without any problem. The people are very friendly and good talking. Favorite spot is the "Museu da Inconfidencia" and "Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pillar", the first one built there and covered with gold interior. We visited also a deactivated mine with guidance, the guides explain a lot of the processes for mining gold at XVIII century there. Fun fact: a lot of brasilian slangs have the origin at there and at that time.

It is a very lovely old town with history and it is small. There are a lot of churches to see. The town is on up and down hill and it takes a lot energy to walk in town. It is easy to go to Mariana by local bus, it takes about 20-30 minutes. There are many cars in the town, you should be aware when across the road.

Highly recommend.
Highly recommend. Relaxing, quaint, and full of interesting history. We stayed for 3 days, which was enough time to explore the city in a leisurely way, trying several restaurants, visiting multiple museums and churches, and touring 2 mines -- all without feeling rushed. The city is picturesque, the people are kind, the history is interesting (and sometimes disturbing), and the food is fantastic.
The only caveat: if you have mobility issues (i.e., hip or knee issues, balance problems, etc.), Ouro Preto would be a very challenging destination for you. The streets are STEEP, and mostly uneven or slick cobblestone. One can minimize walking by taking a jeep tour around to some of the key destinations, but it would be difficult to really explore the city without being on foot much of the time. We walked up and down the hills all day, and even as a fairly healthy, fit person, I slipped around a bit on the stones and my knees were a little sore by the end.

Ouro Preto is a historic Village which carries a lot of Brazillian History because of the gold mining, actually is a touristic village with a lot of restaurants, museums and stores in historic buildings in tight streets. Beautiful place to visit.
This was our favourite place we stayed in Minas Gerais, and it is because of the brilliant owners and their team. Simply the friendliest and most helpful place we have been in Brazil, with tips on where to go and what to see, an amazing breakfast, beautifully presented, with an option to be served in a stand alone conservatory area or in your room, and an ideal location just outside of Ouro Preto but easy to get into town when you want to. Our children were so looked after and happy, could not ask for more. We'll be back!
Everything. Best breakfast i've ever had at a hostel, and almost the best I've ever had in any hotel. Clei and Fernando are the owners and they're absolutely delightful people that make everything extremely clear to you upon check-in. They live two doors down and are always available when needed. By the time I left, I felt like family.
The beds have coverings and outlets and even little lights. So far beyond any hostel I've seen in Brazil. There are lockers in the dorm rooms.
Definitely a superior hotel in comparison to standard brazilian hotels, located 18km from downtown ouro preto.
Beautiful property, very well decorated. Comfortable bedrooms, with amazing showers.
Beautiful Pool. It also has a pool table and Foosball. Small gym with weights and a treadmill which were pretty handy!
We enjoyed the breakfast, which had a lot of variety.
Fantastic staff. Shout-out to Daniela, who was so personable and attentive!
The hostel is very well located in Ouro Preto, just off the main square, in a house much roomier than you would expect from the outside. Everything was comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had on our trip, with everything fresh. We loved the variety of cakes in the morning (freshly baked!). The hostel had plenty of places to relax. And finally the owners were very friendly and helpful. Recommended!
I strongly recommend this place for staying some days in Ouro Preto.
The owner Maria Clara is so sweet and and very attentive to the clients. After the complete and delicious breakfast that she prepared you don’t need to have a lunch.
Thanks so much for these days and hopefully we will be again in Ouro Preto to see you and stay at your place depending on your availability.

The property is really cute! We loved the place, the staffs are amazing, very friendly and kind! It’s definitely the best place I’ve stayed in Ouro Preto. I’ll be back some day. Also, the bed is really big, you can use the kitchen like it’s yours and they have a huge diversity of teas that you can have tea any time you want! And I can’t forget to say that the breakfast is delicious.
Our room was very big, super comfortable bed and no noises at night. The breakfast is soooo good! One of the best we had on our trip. And the owner is very lovely! She gave us tips what to do and where to go in Ouro Preto. Also the cats are cute :)
Would recommend it 100%
The view from this hostel is amazing - it isn't called Buena Vista for nothing! Another great thing about this place is the staff; they are incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The location is good, about 10 minutes walk from the central square.
Déia is a great person. She will do everything to make you feel welcome and will resolve any problem quickly.
breakfast is nice and sufficient.
Great location for visiting all the important spots in Ouro Preto. Right next to the Chico Rei mine.
The colonial style. It is not luxurious but it did have its charm. It had an excellent bed, excellent linen. Bathroom was good. Pretty good breakfast. Remember this hotel is small and more like a boutique style. True to the local culture.
I love the pool (although it isn’t warm, it is clean and big), breakfast was delicious, the staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. We love the view from the restaurant. The hotel is cozy and clean.
One good thing about this hotel is location. In the centre of the historical area, very close to everything, especially if you are not bu car. Very beautiful views over the city, good breakfast.
We were surprised by the Trilhas de Minas Hostel, it is better than we expected. Amazing view, a pool with terrace, the rooms were comfortable! Add a very varied breakfast and you have a winner.
We loved everything about the hotel - the staff was super friendly, the owner, Paulo, was very accommodating, and the place was lovely. We will be staying there again!
