Great staff, comfy bed, every thing was within reach.
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and offers cheaper accommodation, with easy transport links to the historic centre. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano offers fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the centre of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche centre, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called ‘mignon’.

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

We only had a three night stay at the Hotel Delfino in Mestre
It is the perfect position for a value for money ,easy base to visit Venice from.
Unfortunately we did not have time to visit Mestre itself as our focus was always towards Venice.
Mestre is a very short journey by bus two and from the airport and stops outside the hotel which means your holiday can begin within the hour. Perfect. The supermarket was well stocked with anything you should need. With places to eat and regular buses to move around or by foot

This is the second time I have stayed in Hotel Garibaldi, it maybe a small hotel but has a huge heart! Luigi and his colleagues are so kind and helpful and show interest in how you spend your time. The No.2 bus stops right outside to take you to the centre of Venice. Hotel Garibaldi is excellent quality for a a very reasonable price, breakfast will set you up for the day. I will be back again soon!!

Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative...
Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative though you definitely miss out on the old, traditional feel of Venice (I had stayed in a hotel in Venice another time and it was wonderful there). If you eat in Mestre, it's much cheaper. We ate at 'Da Michele'. Excellent food, very good value for money. We did not have any time to explore Mestre per se, though.
Almost everything, location value for money, access, facilities etc. - this feels like a hostel turned to hotel but our stays were very comfortable.
Staffs were friendly but sometimes only 1 person at the reception so we need to queue a long time just to ask question.
There are 2 bus stops that will get you to Venezia just in front and at the back/upstairs (through the stairs) of the hotel which is very convenient.
Can also go to Mestre Station and take the train from there but we had day pass so chose the bus instead.
From the very beginning our experience with the hotel was positive. They suggested a parking house for our car just down the street which although pricey was very safe and secure. The reception was friendly and helpful. The room, although compact was well laid out and well equipped.
The hotel is just a short walk from the Mestre train station with frequent trains going into Venice (it seems to be 4-5 trains per hour). The train only takes 12 minutes and is very inexpensive at € 2.90 per person roundtrip.
Very clean. Professional front desk. Cross the street, spend 1,35 euros from a machine at the station and 10 minutes later you are at Venezia S. L. (Santa Lucia) station. Don’t forget to validate your ticket before boarding. Any regional train will bring you back to Mestre. Be aware the train changes track (binario) at short notice.
By car, parking is about 50 mts from the main entrance of the hotel on Via Pavia if driving towards the station. After parking there is a direct access to the loby.
Before coming to Venice, I was not sure to stay in Mestre or to book directly in Venice. I am so glad that we stayed in Mestre. Everything was just perfect. You can directly go by buses to Venice, bus stop is just in front of the hotel. Since you can park your car for free as offered by the hotel, you do not have to stress yourself for looking for precise parking places!
The staff is very helpful and explains everything regarding public transportation.
Overall I strongly recommend this place!
The hotel is extremely well positioned just in front of the Mestre central station. Everything is very clean and the room was big and comfortable, very quiet (as required) and luminous. They gave us an upgrade so the room was better than expected. We chosen to have breakfast for 10€ each and was pretty good with plenty of options. Check-out is at 12:00 and not at 11:00 as many other hotels. A very convenient option for short stays if you don’t want to stay inside Venice.
Bus stops are close to the hotel - Mestre Stazione F.S. was a 10 minute walk with heavy bags, and there's a bus stop behind the hotel which you can catch to and from Venice (Bus number 2) - approx 10-15 minute trip.
Staff were great on arrival - check-in was easy and stress free.
The location was good - several food places close by.
ATM and snacks are in the lobby, which was handy.
Room size was decent.
The staff is amazing, each and every one of them. Always kind and helpful.
The hotel is extremely close to Mestre Station, where there are numerous trains and buses to Venice.
The room was tidy, clean -though not the cleanest. There is a pretty good isolation (except from the doors) compared to any other hotel I've visited. Overall it was really calm and peaceful at night.
The beds were very comfortable and we had enough space for all of our things. Everything was clean and the location was really great. You can get to Venezia Mestre by walk in 6min and the next bus station to Venice City us just 3min away. The connections were really good and definitely worth the little money you pay.
We had a great time at Camping Venezia Village! The staff was great, speaking several languages and also our early check-out was no problem. The location itself is great, clean and has everything you need. A bus stop in front of the camping place brings you in around 10 minutes to Venice. Recommend staying there!
LOCATION -- Train to Venice canals is a short walk from the hotel. Bus to airport is literally a 3 minute walk... so easy!
ROOM -- Spacious, comfortable & a beautiful corner balcony! Loved the air conditioning for sweltering evenings in Italy.
STAFF -- Very kind & easygoing.
Thank you for a great stay!
The hotel is very well-located. The center of Mestre is just a short walk away and the bus to the historical center of Venice is literally in front of the hotel. You can also get bus or day tickets right at the reception. Rooms are very basic and could use some updating but they will do.
It's a comfortable hotel with very clean rooms. Located close to the center of the city Mestre, 5 min walk to the bus station from which you can go to Venice (it takes 15 min). We were traveling with dog and kid. Dogs are welcome, the price for a dog stay is not high.
Perfect location, close to Venezia Mestre train station which provides quick and easy access to Venice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I really liked the room layout (the toilet, shower and basins are all separate).
Location was really convenient, just around the corner from Venezia Mestre train station! The Hostel was really clean and everyone was so friendly! The light and power outlet by your bed was awesome too!
The hotel is very close to the mestre train station, and the connection to the venice main islands is very good. The stuff working there is very friendly, responsive and helpful, I enjoyed my stay there.
The location is really good. It’s about 2mins walk from the Venezia Mestre station. It’s really easy to get into the bus to Venice. The accommodation is not noisy as said in those other comments.
Wonderful apartment. Exceptional owners. Great location close to Mestre train station, hotels, restaurants, many buses. Highly recommend for a visit to Venice. Loved it.
The bus conection of the hotel with Piazzale Roma in Venice is very good (Bus lines 7E and 4L). Also, short walk to the center of Mestre or Mestre Railway Station.
Close to the Mestre train station and only 15 min from Venice, very confortable beds, clean room and nice hotel overall. I highly recommend for the price.
