Loved driving around the coastal road, quirky towns and villages, people so friendly, stunning countryside. Quirky and different!!! So very quiet and peaceful. Easy driving around as not too much traffic even though roads are sometimes narrow! Went to a small quirky market by harbour in annan town really nice stalls and people. A very chilled vibe wherever we went.

A mixture of 17 Th Century red sandstone buildings with a wide Main Street indicating an old market town. Many buildings had references to Robert Burns. It’s got a harbour and lots of “old fashioned “ individual businesses. Worth at least a day on its own or 2 to 3 as a base if you want to explore Dumfries and Galloway !

A nice place to stay for one or two nights.

A nice place to stay for one or two nights. In this small town you can get a really good fisk and chips. You can have a great evening at the local pub and have a chat with the locals. There are two places worth visiting if you enjoy drinking alcohol. Annandale destillery. Very nice place to take the tour and the local gin destillery.

Nice riverside walks. Powfoot close by for seaside walks.

Nice riverside walks. Powfoot close by for seaside walks. Only a few shops in the main street. Due to covid, lots of empty buildings. A few eating places. The Bluebell inn is a nice, quiet and friendly pub, worth a visit. The corner house hotel where we stayed serve snacks at lunchtime, which are very nice and reasonable in price.

One night stopover on way back from Northern Scotland.

One night stopover on way back from Northern Scotland. Delightful position overlooking the Solway Firth- good for walks along the beach and birdwatching. Had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was a tapas style menu and was delicious. Very wide choice for breakfast. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Coffee machine in room also made tea, but the water was only lukewarm. Better with a kettle!

The Old Rectory is a perfect example of Scottish BnB accommodation. Breakfast was excellent, we all had plenty to sustain us through the day. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean. Dave was helpful with suggestions of where to get other meals and the guest house was quiet and clean. I see others complain about the water pressure of the showers (I've actually seen worse in big hotels), but when you've not had a working shower at home for over 12 months due to renovation's, any shower is better than none. Perspective is everything ;-)

The Powfoot Hotel is located on the beach of the Solway Firth with stunning views. The hotel exceeded our expectations. From entering to leaving the hotel we were made to feel welcome, the staff were friendly and helpful Dinner which is based on a tapas style menu was extremely enjoyable with a wide range if dishes, meat, fish and vegetarian. Probably the best meal I have had this year. Will we stay again? Absolutely and looking forward to it.

Value for money. Clean rooms. Spacious rooms too. Secure. Staff are brilliant, every guest is treated like they have known you for years. Breakfast is delish (highly recommend the breakfast wrap!). Located at the heart of Annan. Plenty of free parking. You cannot complain at the price. It's a good, honest, humble hotel and as long as you arent expecting champagne lifestyle on a lemonaid budget, you won't go wrong booking here.

Beautiful hotel on the coast overlooking a golf course.wonderful views from the window and a beautiful deck just outside our bedroom. Very sturdy and watertight double door to the deck, tested by the strong winds and rain that evening. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Nice menu with smoked fish selections for bkfst and extra attentive staff. Ample free parking.

Warm welcome. Careful covid-19 precautions. Idyllic situation. Warm bedroom with wonderful views over golf course and solway firth. Breakfast excellent. Inventive 'Scottish Tapas' evening menu. Adjoining golf course but doesn't feel like a golfing hotel, an advantage in my opinion
