Ecclefechan itself is a bit of a ghost town very tired looking centre just a small general store.We went to eat at the Cressfield hotel on outskirts of village by caravan site.We ate there and would reccommend their evening meals.Ecclefechan is in quite a good position to see some of the surrounding countryside and coast.

Clean comfortable made very welcome , felt too many dont’s in conversation and didn’t like a note being put on bed we were not using after being told not to use empty bed , down side had to travel into Gretna for food to bring back , many more information on that would be useful but I also didn’t ask , have to say thank you for letting us leave a bit later to go to wedding

A very good host and attentive staff. A great breakfast to start your day off, and was a good base to visit gretna green and dumfries and on to castle douglas. Then back to hotel for a nice drink, food and comfy bed.juneUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by Ste who was more than helpful during our stay. The landlady made a point of coming to sit near us during the evening and we had a nice conversation not only with her but a local gentleman called Ben who we had a few drinks with. The barmaid was really good and although the place was busy she didn't drop a stitch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again on the next trip to Scotland.BBarryUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
This hotel was a real home from home.
This hotel was a real home from home. Each room was full of fascinating historical artefacts and the owner was keen to tell us about the history of the building. There are open fires and cosy sitting rooms to enjoy. The welcome was very warm.

Rooms were comfortable and bathrooms (especially room 16) super. The hotel is well situated near the motorway but not so near to be bothered by traffic noise. Ecclefechan is well situated for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. Big thank you to the Kelly family and staff for two super stays.

Travelled with my dog who was made very welcome. My evening meal (gammon and chips) and breakfast were delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly. I look forward to staying again.
