We liked the outside view, great for sunrises and sunsets.

We liked the outside view, great for sunrises and sunsets. The tea room with the fireplace was very cozy. The power shower in the room was very nice. The hand-wash and body wash - the bottles were reused and one was dented. Very unhygienic. The spare blanket in the wardrobe was thrown onto the floor with no cover. The tea cups were dirty. No menus in the room. The room we were given hadn't been serviced in a long time. The strip that closed the wardrobe door was broken. It was only when we changed rooms that some of those things were rectified. We will not be returning. The receptionists were not interested in good customer service.

A well presented old hotel with lots of history and in parts has been kept in original condition, a smell of musty books is all around but not unpleasant as this enchanting place is centuries old, staff are friendly and on hand and food is tasty and well prresented, car park is a good size and free. However the room stayed in was slanted and repairs needed, otherwise a fair stay for the price, be wary of lots of walking stairs and noisy at night.

Havant is more of a staging post to visit other places. it has a reasonable shopping area with reasonable forms of transport available as in bus and train service. I was using it to visit people during the time of a funeral and so it worked for me in that way

A lovely town centre market on Saturday and lots of shops.

A lovely town centre market on Saturday and lots of shops. Several nice pubs serving food. Lively evening atmosphere. Large superstores near by. Lovely public park. Friendly people. Beautiful traditional buildings with pantiled roofs and a very historic feel to the town. We ate at Wetherspoons in the town centre as most people seemed to do. food and drink were excellent and good value. If we find a Wetherspoons in a different town which is a hotel we would definitely choose to stay in one.

Central parking is very good giving easy access to all local facilities. For those who wish to shop there are a lot of varied retail outlets conveniently close together. In addition there is an abundance of different style eating places to choose from. The pedestrianised area, quiet side roads and little alleys and footpaths give it a very relaxed feel. There are plenty of interesting old buildings and architecture here and the detailed historical sign boards and wall plaques are absolutely excellent. A little oasis for the casual walker. We loved the wonderful old oak beamed pubs and inns which are beautifully run and maintained. A credit to their brewery owners and staff.

We always book a twin room and we had a king size bed plus a single bed, and the room was very spacious and there is a connecting door to the next room if you need it. The staff are always very friendly and the food is always good with a very good choice at breakfast. It is close to the town centre and a market on Saturdays, there is a closed in shopping centre close by and a good choice of shops all with in walking distance.

On arrival we were greeted at reception by Jess. She was so very bubbly and helpful and on allocating our room moved us to a room with a very nice bay view that was a nice touch. The room was large, had very nice fittings and furniture and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was great with a very large walk-in shower, and all was spotless. Whilst in the hotel we found all of the staff helpful and friendly that rally made a difference to others we have stayed at recently. We will definitely be staying at the hotel again.

The Bear hotel is conveniently situated for trips into Portsmouth to the Historic Dockyard or to Southsea D Day Museum. Although the decor is a little tired the amenities were good and the parking was right outside once you negotiate the one way back streets to the car park. There was a good selection of meals for dinner. Breakfast was buffet style with the option of a full English breakfast. The room was comfy but not lavish and there was plenty of hot water for showers or a bath.

Have stayed here many time when visiting Portsmouth, and every time the staff especially Jayne have been great. The rooms are always clean, the restaurant has a good choice of food, the breakfast is filling. We’ve never had an issue with cold showers unlike some other hotels. Just enjoy staying here and good value.

The location of the hotel was great for our visit covering Hayling Island and Chichester. The Waterside Restaurant was lovely with the added bonus of a live singer. Breakfast was great and plentiful with staff on hand to quickly replenish items. The room was comfortable and clean.

The history of the hotel and the old style kept is really nice, dinner and breakfast very well done and presented, and water nice and hot. Despite finding out the room is haunted we are very spiritual and that was an added bonus although we didn’t see a ghost!

Room was comfortable and the restaurant food was very good. One excellent facility was a quiet public room where there was no music playing. I wish more hotels would do this. Not everyone wants to listen to music all the time in the bar or rest areas.

Well, it was cheap and quirky I liked that. The decor is dated as others suggest, but it was tidy and clean so I didn't mind this. The bed was so soft! lol, if you don't like that think again.

The location was close to work and the menu in the restaurant was broad. The bar itself was warm and cosy. The price was the cheapest I could find in the area. But perhaps for a reason.
