The room was clean and comfortable. We slept well. Dinner menu was varied and we all enjoyed the dinner, though were too late to order dessert, as the kitchen had closed, which was a disappointment. The full English breakfast with toast was very nice too. No complaints there. The tea/coffee tray in the room was well stocked with drinks, biscuits and milks etc. We arrived on a bad weather day, sadly, but the garden looked really very nice and I imagine it would be lovely to sit out there on a sunny day.

Maybe we are not looking in the right places but our view of Ipswich is that of a run-down, sad town. Even the waterfront seems an unhappy place. The nicest hotel-run restaurant we could find for breakfast by the waterfront was probably a lovely place at some point but was worn out and in desperate need of redecoration. I've lived in Ipswich for a good 15+ years. Since my return it has changed for the worse and just feels empty and lacking of anything worthwhile to do. Parks are good (mainly in the town), lots of charity shops, bookies and pubs but lots of high street shops have closed or just boarded up. We visit Ipswich Atleast once a year to see family, it is a pleasant city with plenty to see and do. If you are driving I recommend paying close attention to your satnav because the roads can be slightly confusing! There is a lot of history behind Ipswich which can be fascinating also. Ipswich is a good base to use for visiting other areas, but it is a bit limited on places to eat at night. It has a good Railway service, and also bus service, which we made use of as we did not have a car with us. It is very nice down at the Waterfront, but we were disappointed that there were no boat trips at all when we were there, as we would certainly have gone on one had there been.

The staff was very helpful throughout our stay,we had a problem on our first night with other people shouting and slamming doors. The next morning when I went to complain they had removed the people from site and acting very quick to ensure everyone who was staying there was happy, they went over and beyond to make our stay very relaxing and could not have done any more. So we'll done to the management and staff.

The room was a decent size and recently decorated and the bathroom appears new. Dogs are welcome in the bar area (where you can also choose to eat) and the breakfasts are fantastic.
