Fabulous room. Characterful and everything I needed including nespresso machine, big comfy bed, fantastic shower. I was leaving at 6.15 before breakfast available so the man who checked me in gave me some cheese etc from kitchen for the journey next morning. Really lovely place to stay.

The spa is nice and swimming is free for guests. We had food in the bar area which had a limited menu but was tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

Great location if you have business in Lancaster University.
This 17th century, luxury, boutique hotel is the only 4-star hotel in the centre of Lancaster, and is superbly situated in the heart of the city centre.

This is central Lancaster, yet it's in a quiet spot beneath the castle, and near the bus station. There's a bar/restaurant below with great food (including smashing breakfasts and enormous pies). Everything we were looking for - we'll be back!
Parking nearby in town car parks - get the RingGo app on your phone before you leave home to make it easy.

I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it.
I lived in Lancaster for almost 20 years and I love it. I still live locally and I went to the hotel as a reward/treat to myself after a significant loss in my life. Lancaster is quite a compact city which is crammed with history and culture and independent shops.

Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting.
Had a guided tour of the castle which was very interesting. We also visited the Abbey adjacent. We also like the promenade walk along the River Lune which is easily accessible from the hotel. Lancaster is built on hills so for the mobility limited it can be difficult to walk around. We drove directly to the castle car park for blue badge holders. We ate all meals in our hotel.

We had to use the council car park because the hotel didn’t have their own. It cost us £12 each night and we got a parking ticket the first morning because the attendant misread our ticket. This means we now have to deal with that, very annoying. Local residents said beware the council !!!

Breakfast was magnificent!
Breakfast was magnificent!
Lunch and dinner, which we paid for additionally, was brilliant value.
We were staying at the University to attend our grandson's graduation ceremony. It was just perfect and so very convenient.
We loved everything, all the staff especially the manager were so polite and helpful from the minute we walked in, our bags were kindly moved up to our room so we could head to a nearby festival in the city, the room was very large and beautifully presented, we had a great sleep, and then the next morning a fantastic breakfast. There is also a lovely beer garden at the rear, We will definitely be staying again and recommending the hotel and bar to everyone visiting Lancaster. Thankyou.
I use Lancaster University Guest Rooms when I pick up my son from uni. As they are on-campus they are VERY convenient, and whilst they are basic they are also very cheap, which is the main attraction. Functional, and the check-in and out system is straight forward. We have also used these rooms for short Lake Distric breaks. The southern Lakes are only 45 mins away by car and the accommodation is so much cheaper than Ambleside hotels!
Had a wonderful stay for my birthday recently at The Sun Hotel & Bar. Received an upgrade to an extremely spacious and comfortable luxury double room. A stone’s throw from the town centre and Lancaster’s pubs and bars, yet is set off the main road so is nice and quiet in the bedroom. Had both an evening meal and breakfast which were both delicious, served by friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend!
We had room 10 which is located out on street to the left of building as you look at it. Lovely room with sofa/lounge area, open plan. Lovely modern bathroom with walk in shower. Great little outdoor courtyard with table and chairs, very private. 5min walk into city centre. About 15min walk to train station. Hotel has nice bar area with lots of different seating and little rooms, quite unique.
The hotel is situated in a country setting, yet only 10 minutes away from Lancaster City by car.
Located by the River Lune Coastal path, area of scientific imporetance.
Staff were welcoming and could not do enough to help me.
My room was clean and comfortable and had a fabulous shower.
Food was generally of a good standard.
The bar had well stocked wines and ales with a lovely atmosphere.
Stayed here on our way to Scotland from the South West. Great location, easy access off the motorway. Is located on a fantastic modern University campus with lovely areas to walk.
Hotel itself is lovely and the staff couldn’t be more attentive. We had bar food in the evening which was lovely and the breakfast in the morning was also great.
Great central location, and excellent value for money. Great that there's a shared kitchen for self-catering. It's a budget accommodation, and a reasonable alternative to hotels in the city (since the Travelodge/Ibis closed to paying customers to house refugees, there really isn't a basic, cheap, safe. clean option in the city centre.
Rooms are good size, new, clean and have a fun decor. Nice little touches with chocolate, Nespresso, etc. There are two nice walks from the hotel, one to the Castle and one along the river. Town is walkable. Designated parking was nice. Restaurant had some of the best food we had in England.
The hotel is in a superb location within Lancaster. It was quiet and exceptionally tidy. The room and bathroom were excellent..and the various reception staff I encountered also excelled. I would recommend Lancaster and the King's Arms to anyone looking to stay in this part of the country...
Lovely and cozy apartment, there’s everything you might need plus the service you would get from a hotel (room cleaned and towels changed everyday). Perfectly located, just 10 mins from the railway station, 2 mins from the bus station, and in the very centre of Lancaster. Highly recommend!
The location is great as its right in the centre of Lancaster, the place looks great, staff were great and the room was lovely, best shower I have ever had in a hotel room as well. It was immaculately clean and there are many restaurants and tourist places nearby the hotel.
We love the room and the complimentaries so much! The room was very relaxing and has a calming effect that I have never experienced in all of the hotel and bars I have previously checked in. When I come back to Lancaster, I will definitely stay here again.
The hotel was ok. That is it, i cant say any more. In fact if you are not meeting someone at the Uni i would suggest staying elsewhere. It is some way out of town if you need to get dinner etc. Unless you order take away for delivery.
Everything about the hotel was spot on,the only thing was the Log burning fire not being on the last 2 days of our stay and the radiator not working, other than that nothing everything was near perfect
Good hotel, all receptionist were attentive, room was clean, I did not use Breakfast or Restaurant.
Overall I will recommend, around 2 miles from the center of Lancaster but offer free carpark
I liked the breakfast at Wetherspoon's next door. Good food and great prices. I liked the location - convenient to everything.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
The people were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is old with a little history, but the rooms have been refurbished and are decorated very nicely.
A lovely, clean holiday home in an excellent location to enjoy Lancaster from. Loved the decor. Excellent communications. We will happily book from Caroline again.
