Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques.
Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.

An absolute surprise - we spent all day just walking round Shrewsbury and being delighted by what we found - including the Market Hall which is something we don't see many of in the south of England.

This was our second time in Shrewsbury and still lots to see and do. The prison is a must to visit and is well worth the entrance fee, especially is you do the self guided tour. The majority of the pubs and independant shops are dog friebdly, which is a huge bonus if your four legged friend is with you. The blitz hill museum in Ironbridge is worth a visit. We paid £26.50 each entrance fee but it was well worth the money and ypu could spend all day there looking at and interacting with the exhibits. There are some oldy worldy little streets to walk down and a walk along the river is a must. The darwin trail is well worth doing, very interesting and comoletely free

Pro's :Loved Shrewsbury , haven't spent much time in Shropshire, this town is a hidden gem and I will definitely be back .
Loved the history of the town and well preserved Tudor buildings which drew me to booking a short break. Shrewsbury has something for everyone.
It's a foodie heaven- amazing Market Hall with interesting food , drink and clothing outlets, spent hours here- recommend House of Yum to eat in here(Thai dining, inexpensive and well presented) plus the Gin Bar ! (with it's own Shrewsbury Gin). Would also highly recommend an Italian restaurant called Osteria- excellent service and food to an award. winning standard. The Henry Tudor pub worth visiting- very historical and really interesting interior.
Shrewsbury reminded of a mini-York minus the price tag. Shrewsbury is very accessible and also easy to walk around.
Cons : Be mindful a lot of the shops and points of interest such as the Castle and Military museum are shut on Sundays and the Market Hall is only open on Set days- all the more reason to go back !
check in very smooth. Hotel location just outside Shrewsbury was excellent. We will visit again in the summer to take advantage of the lovely garden and outside seating right by river Severn.
We chose the double room with extra large bed.....we were not dissappointed. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean as was the bathroom, bath, shower etc.
Restaurant with great menu to suit all tastes. Staff on breakfast, bar, restaurant all first class.....well done.
What's not to like about The Shrewsbury Hotel. Great location, excellent rooms with everything you need. Great food and alcohol at great prices! We've already booked our return visit in a couple of weeks. Shrewsbury is a beautiful town which is great for shopping, bars and restaurants. Boat trips and a beautiful park all there to enjoy. It's now our go to place for a little getaway when needed. Definitely recommend a visit.
The hotel is conveniently located right in the historic centre of Shrewsbury. Formerly the home of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, it's a rambling old building with a lot of charm. My room was comfortable and warm with ensuite bathroom and I wanted for nothing. All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I didn't eat evening meals in the restaurant but breakfast was superb.
The rooms were excellent, beautiful furniature, large comfy bed. The breakfast lounge and breakfast was great. The staff were amazing. So much thought and effort by the management.
Looking forward to my next visit to Shrewsbury. I usually stay in town and have stayed at most hotels but from now on will stay here as I get far more luxury for the money and it is very peaceful.
Superb breakfast and very friendly staff. Car parking was a bit tight but we had been warned it was first come first served. We would have been earlier if Shrewsbury hadn't made the town centre one way as a trial. We could see the hotel but had to go all round to get to it. V poor. Location excellent for the town centre. Had a lovely stay thank you
The communication with Steve was excellent. Everything was laid out perfectly. The location was just right, only a 10 minute walk into the town centre. The flat itself was beautiful, far better than any hotel room.
We will definitely use it again when we return to Shrewsbury.
The staff were really lovely, they were very helpful and checked us in early and looked after our luggage after checking out. The food was excellent- truly the best hotel food I've ever had, and among some of the top restaurants I've eaten at. The beds were comfy and cozy.
A full homely house on a very quiet estate. Extremely cleanly maintained and very comfortable. An Indian & a Chinese takeaway and a Co-op 5 minutes walk. 10 mins to Shrewsbury by car or a lovely 30 mins walk via side of the Severn river.
Home from home...well recommend!
The location of the hotel is superb being close to Shrewsbury and set in large private grounds. Free access to the Wellness Centre is a real bonus to swim, enjoy a sauna or work out in the gym. Our room was bright, large, well-equipped and comfortable.
Rooms were clean, and had nice extra touches. especially for the location. as it was out of main Shrewsbury town and there was a train strike the fridge, plates, bowls and a table were thoughtful.
We stayed at this hotel after walking up Mount Snowdon. The hotel was set in a beautiful location. had nice gardens and the room was perfect. The check in was quick with very friendly staff.
We liked the room (Prince Rupert Suite) and staying in an historical building in the centre of Shrewsbury. Breakfast was excellent. Action to address our check in issue after we complained.
A lovely hotel with fabulous staff. Breakfast was amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent position for exploring the beautiful town of Shrewsbury
We like small, quirky boutique Hotels and Darwin's Kitchen was perfect. Good atmosphere in the bar, good food , charming room. Well located near the middle of Shrewsbury,
